| When Avyra walked into the Warder's Yards for the first time, she instantly felt like she didn't belong. There were a few Gaidin milling around, each one looking like they could break her in half if they wanted. She was looking for Ravak. Although he hadn't offered to teach her, she still wanted to seek him out. Maybe he could find her a suitable tutor for any sort of combat training. She paused, not really knowing where she was going. She had never been here before and knew next to nothing about the Yards and the layout of the offices. Well. She stood about for a few more minutes, looking a bit awkward in that white Novice's dress of hers, trying to spot someone familiar. Or someone who didn't look like they'd pull a sword if she startled them. She spotted a Drin, a young lady. Who didn't look anything like a Warder in training. But she had the garb and everything. Interesting. Avyra paused, deciding to approach to ask for directions. |

Fiona

Fiona leaned against a fence post in the practice yards, her fingers absently combing through her curls. She had worked hard since before dawn, and -in her mind- deserved the break. The Andoran had known before she signed the books that she would have to push herself to stay in stride with her peers; she had not realized until several days after exactly how much such a process would hurt. Or how bloody annoying it was to have her every movement dictated to her by a freckle-faced redhead only a handful of years older than she. She thought he was trying to be kind, sometimes, and could almost forgive him. At others, she found herself saying and doing things purely to see what would happen, because that stone face of his infuriated her.
She looked up when she saw a flash of white, and found herself facing a woman about her own age, with lively green eyes, brown hair, and the look of Cairhien about her person. She’s tiny! Fiona thought, surprised. “Good morning,” she said warmly. “I am Fiona, can I help you?”
“I’m Avyra. I'm looking for Ravak Gaidin,” the other woman said, “do you know where he is?”
Fiona blinked in surprise. Earlier that morning, an impossibly tall Accepted had asked her a similar question, barely pausing to hear the response before hurrying on. “Everyone wants to know where Ravak bloody Gaidin is,” she commented grumpily, “and I can’t imagine why. I think someone put lemon juice in his morning porridge.” The words slipped out before she could stop them, and she covered her mouth with her hands in horrified shock.
OOC: I absolutely adore Craig, regardless of how much abuse Fiona heaps on Rav (or vice versa) in this thread. | Avyra just... looked at this Drin, Fiona, with a bit of shock. Had she just...? That was a good one! Avyra mentally kicked herself for not thinking of that. "I'm looking for some training, nothing more," she replied. "But that annoyed and bitter oaf of a man is so important, I can never find him." Her voice, unlike Fiona's, was rather good natured. She did like Ravak, and liking someone for her meant picking on them to no end. And, judging by Fiona's previous comment, she figured the Drin was not going to care about her snarky retort. "I'm Avyra," she said, holding out a hand. "Novice. Its finally good to find someone who I can see over the shoulders of. And in the Warder's Yards, none the less. All the people who frequent here are usually giants." |
