Drin seeking Mentor / Instructor for sword
I'm unable to find a swordsmanship class so I'm hoping to RP with someone who can help me master the art of RP combat. My character has some skill with the sword having been a career military officer so I would like to earn him some points. PM me for more details or respond below.
Thanks in advance,
~Prew

Re: Drin seeking Mentor / Instructor for sword
Greetings, salutations, and all that crap. *toothy grin*
I might be able to help with the sword classes a little bit; I'm in the process of working out some classes. What kind of sword are we looking at here?

Greetings! I would be willing to help. Riahana knows her way around a blade, and knows a number of the various sword forms listed on the Warder Yards page.

Quibby & Roan,
Prewtez has used a bastard sword instead of the shorter saber preferred by most cavalry. He has practiced extensively over his 13 years in the military and knows several of the forms. Of course he realizes he has much to learn yet. He would also like to learn to use the katana.
I would be honored to have lessons from both of you, a Gaidin and a Gaidar Captain!
Please advise this newbie of the next step...

Re: Drin seeking Mentor / Instructor for sword
Riahana uses a blade akin to the katana as it was the blade gifted to her by her Great Grandfather-in-law. (She has an interesting family tree well rooted in the Tower. Her Great Grandmother is Miahala Aes Sesai.)
Anyway, we could either do a spar, or practice going from one form to the next, or both. Up to you!
I am going to be gone tomorrow until sometime Tuesday, though, so just keep that in mind.

Good news: working on a bastard sword class.
Bad news: basic stuff that your character probably already knows.
Worse news: still in the planning stages.
Conclusion: might be better off working with Roan for a while. My character only knows the two-handed sword, so he can't help you at all. Won't be able to do anything else until there is actually a course of some sort.

I would very much like to have Prew learn the katana from Riahana. I don't know if Drin can receive private lessons, in which case a combination of forms and sparring would seem in order, or whether the setting would be a class for forms.
I'll await your return and answer as I'm fine with either.

If Prewtez can earn a point or two in swords by the time you have your class ready to go perhaps he could serve as an assistant instructor or a mentor in the use of the bastard sword.
Let me know what you think...

Re: Drin seeking Mentor / Instructor for sword
Aaaaand I'm back.
Prew, there is no reason why you couldn't get a one-on-one lesson from anyone willing to help in the Yards.
Riahana, as Gaidar Captain, leads those with the Fancloak who are not bonded. She will want to meet anyone who might potentially fall under her command, and while she might be a stickler for rules, she is not unapproachable by the learning ranks, I hope...
A potential set up could be Riahana practicing her forms with her blade (not a practice sword), and Prewtez (seeing the blade in question) watching/approaching/asking for advice/guidance/assistance?

Great!
I'll start a thread in the Warder's Yard based upon that suggestion. I can get it started today but won't respond until tomorrow.
