Kitty adjusted the staff as Bree showed her, and found it somewhat easier to carry. She still believed firmly that teaching Bree the one-handed signs would be easier however, but this worked for now. At least the staff had stopped threatening to fall down for every step she took.
It was a relief to be able to set the staff down, and she propped it down next to Bree's black staff. Following Bree to the refreshment table, she looked around the room, noting its half-decent layout. It would work well for a few people, but if too many came in and wanted refreshments at once, it would get clustered at the table. Her mouth turned in a half-grin at her own thoughts, and she shook the years as a serving maid from her mind.
The sweet rolls were too mouthwatering to resist, and she had to restrain herself from taking two. It wasn't often a novice got her hands on such things, even though she had helped bake them on several occasions. The Mistress of the Kitchens watched over the boys and girls on baking duty like a hawk, making sure none of the goodies went "missing". She savoured in its smell until they'd returned to the table, taking a bite of it only as she sat down.
The book Bree slid in front of her caught her attention, and the sweet roll and punch was forgotten for a moment as she looked at it while listening to Bree's explanations. The drawings were good, if somewhat incomplete, but so far they had served only as a learning tool for Bree and not for someone else to understand. As she looked over them, leafing through the pages of sketches, she could see which signs were what, and she could also see how certain drawings could be improved. A few could use the addition of arrows or lines to show exactly the move, while others were drawn a little wrong shaped.
She was so absorbed by the book that Bree had nearly finished her sweet roll by the time Kitty looked up again. "This is quite good," she signed, nodding at the book as she reached for her sweet roll, taking a bite and a sip from the punch. The liquid did wonders to her tired body, which she had managed to temporarily ignore.
"A few has some errors," she continued, deciding to be honest with Bree. "But it's a great start. And I don't think the more complex words would be a problem. They are mostly combinations of several signs. They could be shown as the different signs, or described." She nibbled at her sweet roll, an idea popping into her mind. "Do you have something to write with?" It irked her that her own equipment was tucked in with her novice dress somewhere off in Bree's room. "And if I may?" she added, indicating at the book.

OOC: D'you think you could differensiate in some way when Bree is signing and when she's talking? I assumed that she spoke the last bit.
