Hello, from the other side. [ATTN: Mia/Bella]

Post by Kevin » October 30th, 2015, 4:47 am

The morning sky broke the cold darkness, revealing the pearls of dew left behind on everything green and growing. Even as she woke, rolling over in her large bed, she could feel the bundle that was Michael in the back of her head. If she had to guess, she'd put him at the stables taking care of their animals. Selene, her black mare, was turning out to be a good war horse; she stood sound even as Taylin launched weave after weave in the countryside from her saddle. It didn't hurt the mare had Michel's war horse to look toward as to know what to do.

The blonde woman got out of her bed with reluctance, her silk slip of white clinging to her form as if wet. She'd make her way toward her stand mirror, sighing as she took in her sleep worn hair. She brushed her hair until the sun was fully up, and washed herself up in the basin on the mirror stand. She went to the closet, and chose a deep neck-lined silk black with white slashed dress; with a split near to the mid thigh. She donned the outfit, with the help of a maidservant to do up the back. She was singing softly as she used weaves of air and fire to curl her hair, pinning it half-up with emerald tipped bobby pins. The woman was nothing if not meticulous about her grooming habits.

Brushing her teeth, she pointed out a pair of heeled slippers the maidservant held up. The elderly Tower servant was always good at her work, and quiet. Taylin had come to appreciate her presence, even when it wasn't needed. Pulling up skin colored stockings, she'd finish in front of the mirror by completing her charcoal eyeliner and light pink powder to her cheeks and lips.

Putting on her matching white gold encrusted emerald earrings and necklace, she seemed nearly ready to go. The large emerald fell down between her exposed cleavage, but big enough was it not to fall pray to the crevice between. Her maidservant helped lace up the heeled boots, and smiled as she handed Tayling her finely worked silver belt, with an ornate sword on the side. It had a matching twin dagger Taylin had safely tucked away on her person. Michael had been aware of her wakefulness for a time, and up until she readied to leave her room had she failed to pay full attention to the bond. He must be sparring, that was one of the only times the knot in the back of her mind seemed utterly quiet.

Taylin was still new by Tower standards, despite her agelessness starting to take root on her face, and the bonding of her first warder. Still, age bothered her only when people used it as reason to cast her ideas aside without consideration. She'd seen the Mistress of Novices at least once since being raised for quite publicly losing her temper. Public meaning in the presence of Aes Sedai and Asha'man not of the Green Ajah. The other woman had deserved it, and Taylin, though could remember the pain of the switching; did not regret the look of horror on the other woman's face when so blatantly called out on her actions in public.

So instead of going to the actual kitchens to eat, Taylin swayed through the Green halls, smiling warmly at men, and warm; but in a different way...mostly, at the women. She was home here, and like any family; they were learning to accept her, temper, quirks, and all. The main meeting area in the Hall was massive and so beautifully carved and cast that it seemed from a fairy-tale. Other people sat at desks, or in front of one of the few fireplaces. There were nooks and book cases, maps and banners hanging on the walls. Casts of famous Greens in warrior poses lined the walls periodically. There was a sheer majesty to the place, that Taylin wondered if it could be replicated in the other Ajah halls.

She found the table, a buffet style brought up by servants from the kitchens. Fixing a plate, she'd go to the bowl of fresh fruit juice, and ladle a cup full. She took her breakfast toward a seating area around a large desk where no one seemed to be working. She sat down alone, folding her napkin double over her lap, lest something fall on the silk. She took a moment, realizing she'd forgotten a fork. Embracing saidar she'd weave a thin flow or air to the table, pick up a fork, and bring it to her hand, releasing the source. She let a small smile play on her lips, lightening her predatory like bone structure as she began to eat.

Many mornings, Miahala chose to have her meal--light repast, as she did not seem to need as much as she once had--brought to her personal chambers. The solitude often suited her, and she did not see any need to press herself beyond that boundary. Over the past century and a half, she had pushed herself often enough to earn this respite from doing so whenever she so chose.

This morning, however, she felt like having a little less quiet. Perhaps a little time amidst her compatriots would do her good, for a short while at least.

Dressed in her usual utilitarian way, she bore her Saldean style dress in dark green with her hair--dark auburn threaded with pale grey--in a loose braid over her shoulder and her leather riding boots. Beneath her dress, she felt what swung at the end of her necklace between her breasts: a long chain with several rings suspended upon it.

Walking from her chambers to the Green common area and found a light buffet style breakfast arrayed. She debated whether she felt much hungry at all, but did pour herself a cup of tea; that is, she poured water from a pitcher into a teacup and threaded fire into it to heat it before steeping the herbs. Placing a plain pastry roll on a plate, she turned to find a free seat to enjoy her light meal.

Taylin picked the fresh fruit on her plate, eating the sweet berries by covering them in a slightly tart crème. She seemed to eat carefully, enjoying the food. She was careful, but she was also keeping an eye on her surroundings. Things in this life changed in a moments time. Even so, she watched the elder sister join her at the table. She seemed stoic, though, looks could be false. It was morning, and already her mind was working, politicking. She couldn't help but notice the woman's dress.

Being raised low-middle class, she'd never had nice things, though she'd never gone without, at least not often. She'd even been educated somewhat before coming to the Tower. Never would she have been half of the places she'd see now, not as the girl she had been. Often, she garnered looks for her clothing, or rolled eyes at an A-typical Green.

She didn't care what they thought, her skin had never felt silk until reaching Sisterhood, and she had never known such talented seamstresses who she could afford to make her clothing. Never had she had enough to purchase rare gem stoned jewelry, or fine perfumes and soaps. For her, the world was truly open now that she was a Sister. And she meant to live it; to enjoy it. That was one reason she had taken a Warder so suddenly.

The other reason was widely known but not topic of public polite conversation. The two had been seen in a corridor alone, or private section of the gardens a time or two. Taylin let none of this affect her. Instead she was herself, strong willed and confident. Though, it being morning and a meal, she'd been warm and polite, offering a smile that turned her face from severely pretty to true beauty. She spoke at an appropriate volume to the sister whom she knew by name alone.

"Morning, Miahala Sedai, the Light willing it will be a good one. I haven't seen you in the common room often, though I admittedly come and stay rarely. Everything is going well with you?" Taylin's voice was warm, and slightly deep. With her food not forgotten she'd take a bite politely while waiting on the Sister to reply.

There was little the passed by Mia's notice about the happenings in the Grey Tower, and most especially the happenings within her own Ajah, because she was ever vigilant about the Green. So even though she did not know this Aes Sedai, had not met her yet personally or worked with her, she knew precisely who she was as she spoke.

Her face little more than an emotionless, porcelain mask as she looked up, she met the other woman's eyes and nodded slightly. "Good morning to you, Taylin Sedai," she said, her voice level and smooth, cultured from many years of being the strongest voice in a room. "I am well, thank you for asking. I trust that you are also well?" Small talk wasn't her favorite area, but she knew how to be polite.

Taylin looked at her plate, taking a moment to dip a piece of fresh fruit into crème. She'd make sure she finished it, before cleaning to corner of her mouth on a napkin. She knew Miahala had a certain strength among the Greens, not simply age but in the Power as well. She seemed to ponder for a moment, but then she decided to speak. It was rare the woman had issue with another Sister or Brother, but she was not ashamed to say Miahala made her a bit nervous. She wouldn't let it show, but she was keenly aware of how she presented herself.

"I have been seeking further teaching in Battle Weaves with a more experienced Sister. Do you think you could find the time to help me? I would, of course, be happy to work around your schedule." Taylin looked to the woman, as if she feared she might say no. Taylin had thrown herself head-first into her studies upon reaching the Tower, and it seemed that thirst for knowledge had not ended upon swearing the Oaths.

One's education never ended. Miahala had not even stopped learning things. She listened to the other woman's request, and if she suspected any of her nerves, she did not let it show. Even if she had, she had long ago given over to the fact that she would frighten people, in various degrees of course, but she made everyone nervous. She was used to it.

"Of course, Sister," Mia replied easily. "I believe that it is important that all of our Ajah have as strong an understand of offensive weaves as is possible for them, and I'm happy to aid in that. I am sure that we will be able to find a suitable time for us both." She paused and took a long sip of her morning tea. "How are you finding life since attaining the shawl?"
