Makenna heard the Dedicated and smiled as he darted ahead to open the door. She did not hurry and so Rory had the chance to rise and reach her before she left. He reached out and took her hand, neither of them timid or embarrassed by displays of truth at their ages. He brushed his lips across the back of her hand and said, "Dear Lady, thank you for gracing us with your presence this evening. I hope that our conversation was helpful in guiding you."

Makenna smiled and placed her other hand flat against his chest. It was the most she was willing to do given the inequity in their stations at present. "It was enlightening and quite enjoyable. I expect to see you again soon in the Reading Room."
