"I's nae used to such meals..." Betrys felt a little ashamed about admitting that but other than the soft flush on her features, she managed not to end up stuttering or stumbling over her words.

Besides there was far more going on here than any amount of food could distract her from being aware and fascinated with its presence in front of her person. Betrys had been fighting the urge to reach out to touch the lights in the first place. She hadn't seen anything at all like this before, which wasn't exactly surprising given her life before coming here.

While the older woman made it sound boring and ordinary but that was nothing like the reality that Betrys was seeing and experiencing in this moment, no, this was far more special - magical. Would she truly be able to do things like this? While as a child she had sat and listened to the stories about the things capable of being achieved, especially in the Age of Legends but that didn't make having it right there in front of her was any less amazing "...are ya sure?" she questioned, swallowing and already using her right hand to stretch across that distance and try and take the light from her hand.

Following her instructions she willed herself to pick it up as well as moving to take it with her physical hand. Betrys felt her brow furrow with the intensity of her urge to succeed in this.

Makenna felt the stretch. She felt the other woman brush Saidar and felt it herself through her. She flicked the little Twinkle Star in her hand and made it blink then pushed it out and into Betrys' outstretched hand.

"Congratulations!" Makenna smiled. Picking up her tea once more and sitting back she sipped and said, "You just brushed Saidar. Did you feel it?" She watched the beaming delight in the other woman's face as she seemed to be caught between amusement and embarrassment. She sat with Betrys a while longer and helped her reach for the Source a few more times, even having her almost embrace Saidar herself. Finally, though, it was time to take her to her room.

Makenna led Betrys through the gardens and out a side gate to follow a path around the side of the Tower. A smaller building to the southern end of the Tower complex housed all of the learning ranks of channelers. Taking Betrys through the double doors to the left as they approached the front of the building, Makenna led her up a flight of stairs and around the hall to the right. "The male channelers are in the apartments on the west side of this building. All of the apartments on this side are for novices and Accepted. Your room is just here. The fourth door on the right once you pass the second bay window." Makenna pushed the door open and waved Betrys in. "You do not have a roommate now but if you find that you want one, you can request it. Make yourself comfortable. All of your things are here and several Novice dresses have been supplied for you. Rest well Betrys. I will come for you for breakfast tomorrow and help you get started in your classes. If you need anything, the blue door down the hall is where the Accepted on duty for those things can be found. I will see you tomorrow!" With that, Makenna left the girl to get accustomed to her new home.

There would come a time later on when Betrys would reflect on how easy it had been, natural. Though the word wasn't there at the moment, not quite ready to be released into her mind or thinking. She did feel pride though and the faintest trace of happiness at having succeeding - perhaps this really wouldn't be as bad as she had imagined.

Betrys had only the barest understanding of saidar and what it actual meant to possess it. She was the first and likely sole woman to have been taken to the Tower - at least in living memory which was really all the history that her home had ever possessed, the Elder had a small library, basically a few books that were both moldy and highly inaccurate as well but as no-one was doing much in the way of reading it had really not mattered that it was the case "I's...it is beautiful" she whispered, eyes still wide and almost startled with the wonder of the whole experience of this simply moment for Makenna as she smiled and nodded.

"Thank you" she stated, aware of the words being a dismissal and while she felt that flush of embarrassment she was pleased she hadn't managed to mess up just yet. She smiled for a moment, brief and a flash that rapidly vanished as she got up and made for the place that she had been directed towards for the time being. Now...now her real time would begin.
