Nyaine
Tar Valon without the White Tower had been hard to imagine. Both while at home and in the Grey Tower, she had seen paintings of the city on the island in the Erinin. The defining features of those in almost all cases where the shining walls and the high arching bridges leading to and from the city, but most importantly the large white spire that was now completely missing. Nyaine had always wanted to visit the city, stroll through the White Tower's fabled library. Be in the place that had stood through the Trolloc Wars, Artur Hawkwing and War of the Hundred Years war and so much more. Until now. Now, Nyaine deeply regretted not having taken the risk of visiting Tar Valon when she had first come from Cairhien to begin her novitiate in the Grey Tower. At least by being here now, helping the remaining inhabitants, she was contributing to restoring this historic place, even if its heart had been ripped out.
The diminutive Cairhienin had been assigned to Heal less critical wounds. Despite arriving in the tent not long ago, she had already treated a small number of patients and was just now Delving a young boy who was accompanied by a doting mother, who had tried to explain what was wrong with her offspring. Nyaine didn't listen and instead concentrated on her weave. The boy had a torn ligature in one of his fingers, but those were delicate body parts and if untended, he might lose the use of his fingers directly. There appeared to also be some tiny fractures in the bones of the same hand. The basic Healing weave would prove sufficient for those injuries, Nyaine reasoned as she let go of the Delving.
“Okay, little one, I will Heal you now. It will feel very cold for a bit, but there is nothing to worry about. Do you understand?” she asked whilst smiling at the boy. When he shyly nodded, she drew on saidar, channelling Air, Water and Spirit just so, and took the boy's head in both of her hands as she let the weave settle in, holding the child steadily to absorb the inevitable, noticeable jerk of his body. “Already done, you've been very brave”, she said and then turned to the mother. “Healing like this takes quite a bit of strength from the patient. He will be hungry, please make sure he is well-fed and rests as much as he can.”
Nyaine left the mother and her son, looking for the next patient to treat.
