Tar Valon, westlands

Been working on reading the last MRP, and was incredible work guys! I joined just after, so had been trying to see how complete the destruction of White Tower was. And looks like pretty complete.

Was thinking with the loss of the Tower, and there being no real throne there; we of the Grey Tower have probably not left the city to degenerate into chaos and squalor. Was thinking that might mean patrols to discourage Seanchan appetite for lands, and to maybe show the populace we aren’t bad guys.

So I was wondering if anybody wanted to do a thread of a patrol, Yellow healing mission or such. Just throwing idea out there, and figured see what sticks. Thanks.

I would be interested in such an endeavour. Feroce will be using the incident as a way of politically solidifying himself as an authority whose influence extends even into Tar Valon. He would definitely approve of efforts from the Grey Tower at the White.

As for an actual patrol of some sort, Maever is a Yellow and he would certainly want to help everyone there. He would visit people, Heal where needed, and make sure that people were being taken care of. Perhaps liaising with the White Tower Aes Sedai as well, though he might be a bit skittish and socially awkward there.

Being flexible with the timeframe as Nate is technically at the Black Tower right now, but I want to get writing him doing stuff with other people again - I could throw him in. As he is responsible for a lot of the damage inflicted he would happily go along and help however he can. However, Nate is a lot less agreeable-looking than Maever and doesn't have much to offer apart from he's a giant who could keep people in line.

I meant to reply to this earlier and then forgot... Silly brain. But I think this is a great idea, Lugh, and rock on for bringing it up! I would be more than happy to throw any of my characters into the fray. I've got Greens, Blues, Yellows, a Grey, a Red, and a few warders.

Thanks Matty and Bella. I figured see the ideas that pool around for awhile, and go from there. Both of you have amazing stables of characters, so I’m sure a good fit is easy to find.

Matty, I do like the idea of an almost Grey Tower “Red Cross” mission. Even the more pointy stick types could help with crowd control if the rumours and such have soured opinion to a tipping point.

I'd like to involve my Accepted in this, if she's allowed. She's been learning to Heal so that's probably what she'd be doing.

I may also send Liaran but she has issues, so I'm going to have to think about her motivation and whether she'd be capable of doing anything useful.

Yeah, I was thinking that maybe some middle ranks might be allowed to go with the Yellows as a training mission. Some warder trainees could be for the same reason, too?

If Liaran goes to Tar Valon, Haeden would like to insist she take him with her. >.>

Sounds good to me. That would be about the only way Beron would conceivably join the mission. And yellows can bandaid while the others assess, help with rubble or crime or such.

What I'm seeing is...

Feroce as a public show of support and solidarity orchestrates a meeting with the White Tower Aes Sedai, taking some of the Grey Tower to the meeting with him. At the same time groups of Grey Tower folk split out around the White Tower and Tar Valon both, in small bunches to do good in whatever capacity. Groups can include learning ranks as well as long as there's full ranks to supervise. It's good experience and adds to the numbers showing support from the Grey.

With the current people interested it would be very easy to put together a team of Healer types. Maever/Gareth/Beron/Amarinie plus a few others would make for a nice little Healing party who could station up somewhere in Tar Valon to offer Healing, give out blankets and food (I don't know if they NEED those things but I can see Maever taking some anyway as a gesture of friendship...)

On the other hand if it wasn't a Healing party we were after I could send Nate, Bella could send *insert someone else from her list here* and they can do an active patrol?

I don't think it needs to be either-or. There could be a good will group that goes to help with the Healing stuff (Isla too!) and then one that perhaps goes to actively patrol and makes sure there isn't any trouble stuff going on, that could be anyone from the rest of my list, Nate, some trainees, etc.,

This could get broader, too. Maybe specific channelers hear specific things from their EnE about trouble or things that need doing, and so they go along... Specific trouble, or specific troubles causing trouble too? We want to make sure that nothing moves into the void that's left, as Lugh put it, so there could be things trying to move in. Like mafia street war when the top family goes down.

I was watching Pope the miniseries with my wife Easter weekend, and they were talking about how Rome fell and kind of went to pot. While the government absconded to France to drink wine, live in luxury.

I had never really heard of that at all, so was brushing up on History a little and it kind of gave me the idea for this. So I think there’s room for lots of different ideas for sure.
