Nothing to see here! (ATTN: Cheiron)

Leala hefted the basket that contained her laundry that was very much in need of washing. She made a face at her small clothes at the top. Setting the basket down again, she placed a sheet on top of it. It wasn't exactly secure, but she wasn't expecting anything to happen. This was simply a laundry run. She walked out with her burden, and made her way to the stairs, toward the wash room.

It was rather difficult, running errands while maintaining a certain posture, and it was even more difficult when one was lugging a burden while walking upstairs. She felt her lungs working harder, and her face was heating up. She refused to scurry, but it may just be necessary to get this over with.

Stepping onto a landing, she decided to at least add some speed to her walk. Pivoting on her heel, she turned into the next corner, but was met with the body of a person going the exact opposite way that she was. With a small cry of indignation, she watched as the sheet flew away from its spot, and her small clothes went flying along with it, along with much of the basket.

Laundry on the ground, laundry landing on her head and shoulders, and laundry fluttering onto the drin'far'ji that she had barreled into.

Leala's entire body tensed mid-step, and she seemed to be at a loss for words as embarrassment took hold of her. Her usual cool demeanor had vanished, and in place of it seemed to be hormones that she had ignored her whole life. After the initial shock wore off, she set the basket on the floor and began scurrying, retrieving laundry as fast as she possibly could.

Do I want to know?

Sam had taken a while to adjust to the location, but due to his rigorous training in Caemyln, he slipped into his sword training from the get-go. It definitely helped to keep his mind from the fact that he was now the only living member of his family. Especially the fact that he was personally responsible for the death of his father.

No, keep your mind away from those dark thoughts, Sam, He would often think. It was an issue that he had to consciously keep his mind from foul memories.

He did find his pillow was tear stained less and less as the months progressed, but there were the few occasions where he woke up with a red face and the feeling of dried tears.

However, as he was walking away from the laundry room, none of these issues he faced were a problem. He had just finished washing a set of his uniforms, hung them to dry, and made a mental note to return to collect them when they were likely to be dry once more. For the first time in a long time, he didn't have to consciously clear his mind of his troubled waters.

Though, due to his absentmindedness, while looking out a window to the Yards below, wondering who he would face in a duel when he retrieved his sword, he found himself running into a novice. The woman gave a cry of indignation as her laundry went flying, and Sam elicited a grunt as she barreled into him.

Clothing fluttered to the ground, onto the Novice, and onto Sam. She started to frantically pick up her stuff, and Sam was trying to think of something to say. When he pulled one of the items from the top of his head off, he started laughing and said,

"I never thought I'd end up with women's underwear on my head!"
I might be Yellow, but I'm probably braver than you.

I'll never hear the end of this...

Leala felt her face redden when she heard the young man speak and spotted her shift on his head. "Light, I'm so sorry!" she said snatching it off his head. She did not like this feeling. What did the other's call it? Flustered? Yes, that seemed right. She didn't like it, no matter what it was called. All this embarrassment and stress that suddenly hit her was just simply unnecessary, but she couldn't seem to shake it.

She was having enough problems fitting in, not understanding her fellow novices' feelings. If word of this got out, she'd never live it down. She'd be sporting a shawl a hundred years from now, and still her colleagues would be whispering about it. Oh, now you're just being absurd.

Letting out a sigh, Leala did her best to collect herself. She still felt some embarrassment, but the sudden stress was gone. "I truly am sorry. I'm normally much more attentive than this. I thought maybe if I ran errands at the speed other novices did, it would make things little easier. I suppose I was wrong," she explained as she continued to find her laundry around on the steps.

How do you know if it's the end, when you can't hear an end?

Sam fell silent as he tried to think of something to say, instead he opted to help pick up the Novice's clothing, purposely avoiding her small clothes in case his arms ended up getting scratched by her nails. It would not do well to have to explain lacerations when his clothes were not covered with fresh dust from the training yards. Sam wasn't embarrassed about having small clothes land on his head.

"Don't worry. A lot of the men I trained with got flustered about their chores when I was with the Lion Guard of Caemlyn. The trick I suppose has always been to keep your eyes away from those of your superiors. If you look like you're in a hurry, but not so much that you can't stop to pay respects with a bow or curtsy, you should make it to your destination without delays," Sam said, without looking up from the pile of clothes he was putting into the basket.

He didn't know whether or not to try to make eye contact, but he did have a toothy grin on his face, all his usual worries truly forgotten for that moment in time.
