"None of us did but the Pattern gave us our power for a reason. What that reason was I don't know but it had a reason. My guess is so we can help people but that's just me" He said not really knowing how to comfort the girl.
Comforting people wasn't his thing. He would solve their problems and help them but he couldn't comfort or console them. He tends not to spend enough time with people and so hadnt got very good at dealing with them.
He tried but he just didn't seem to understand people. They were all too different and too complex for him to understand. Oh well. He could always try and learn. This would be a good time to start that. Or on second thoughts maybe not. If he messed up then the effects could be even worse that if he said nothing or little and left the girl to her own devices. She would probably be better of not talking to him. He was blunt, often too blunt and he would rather not cause her harm because he couldn't watch his tongue. It wouldn't be the first time and he doubted it would be his last either if he did cause more harm than he did help.

| "Helping people..." She nodded, sighing. "Yeah. But that's hard when a lot of the people you're trying to help are afraid of you." She knew that not all people feared channelers, but a good number still did. "I don't blame them. The One Power is dangerous. And in the wrong hands..." Avyra shook her head. "Its not something I want to get myself tangled in." She paused. "But here I am, tangled in it. What a bloody ness I've made." She had, in a way, tore her family apart. She still loved her father, regardless of what he did, but she knew she would never see him again. And now she was gone, off being a novice. For quite possibly ten years. Ten. So much changed in the short time. People grew, changed. It was just... she couldn't think about it. "Sorry. I've only just met you and I really shouldn't be dropping my problems on you like that." |

Seonin crept along the shadows of the walls, ducking behind nearby pillars whenever one of the two looked around. Her right hand held the edge of her skirt up off the floor, balled up in her fist. Although she had heard Avyra's story before, her eyes still widened at Avyra's words. What the other novice said was incredibly similar to the stories told back in her homeland. The Seanchan believed that channelers must be leashed for their own good - that hurting others was inevitable for an unleashed channeler. Avyra was living proof that the stories were true.
Yet in the year that Seonin had lain in the infirmary under the loving care of Aria Sedai, she had learned much about the values of the people of this continent. If only there was a happy medium, she thought. The leash offered a way to learn how to channel without risk of burning out or causing harm to others - at least not unintentionally - but she knew now that wearing the leash would be impossible for someone as fiercely independent as Avyra. Not all women could bend under the command of the leash without breaking.
Then, she frowned. It only now crossed her mind that perhaps she was invading Avyra's privacy. But she didn't care for the young Soldier. His expression of sympathy was pathetic at best and his expression remained sullen and uncaring, even as Avyra poured out her heart. Should she stay or should she leave? Her heart was torn between protectiveness over her roommate and respect for her privacy.
She stood there uncertainly, unable to make up her mind.

"Don't worry about it. I got use to problems with my sister." Shadow calmly. He was used to problems although not this kind. He had absolutely no idea how to deal with these kind of issues.
He took a deep breath before saying "I was an orphan. My cradle was found outside the village inn next to my sisters. The innkeeper and his wife took us in and raised us as their own. They told us two years ago." He just hoped his own story might set the girl at ease. It wasn't as bad as hers but it wasn't nice either.
This was just one of those situations where he was clueless. Human emotions, or emotions of any form were not his area. He was better at thinking things through and solving them through logic, or violence, when needed. This sort of nice talking to people and reassuring them was most certainly not in his style.
He looked around him checking where they were and ensuring that everything was okay. He preferred to know that he knew where he was. It was just one of those things which he preferred to do, to ensure that everything was fine. He thought he saw the flash of someone ducking behind a pillar but he ignored it. People were always walking about. Seeing the tail end of someone meant nothing.

| Avyra looked back at him. "Mm. That's... that's not good." She paused, turning back to look in front of her. "I'm sorry I dumped this on you. I didn't mean to." She felt bad for the kid; he hadn't asked but he had listened anyway. "Thank you." She paused. "If you ever need some help, feel free to ask me, okay? I'm usually floating about." She paused. "Its the least I can do, for you listening to my problems and all." She looked behind them, again, but saw nothing. "I should be getting to my next class. Its illusionism, and I really don't want to miss that. Its exciting." She paused, turning to walk the other direction. "It was nice meeting you, and talking. Good luck with your studies!" He was odd, but she didn't dislike him. He just wasn't very talkative, it seemed. But that was okay. She sighed, putting her head down. It had felt good to get that off her chest, even if it was at the expense of an innocent like him. |
(I think its a wrap, unless you have anything else to add. I can edit this post if so.)

"Don't worry about it." Shadow said as she turned away As they parted he called back to her "it was nice meeting you too and good luck as well" Then he walked off.
He walked off enjoying the sun for what little time in it he had left. He was going have to get to his next class soon but for the moment he could spend some time outside in the sun. It was nice for a change as he really didn’t spend enough time outside.
What a strange girl but oh well. He supposed he was fairly strange as well by most people's standards. The quietness made you seem very weird to most people. Especially those who liked to talk. As he walked away towards his next class he realised with surprised that he actually like the girl. Now that a new experience. He had never had friends before. His sister had been a friend, he supposed although maybe a close rival would be a better description. They hadn’t really gotten on that well in reality but she had been the person closest to him. He laughed bitterly at the thought. Just how damned was he is she was his best friend.
(Thank you)
