At the mention of the tree, she gave him a smirk. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad.

However, he then took off, and it took her a moment to register that they were, indeed, going. She huffed, sprinting to catch up with his long stride. "I didn't think this was a race!"

The balance beam was easy, for her. Her small feet balanced easily on it, and she was able to walk quickly across with little issue. The two hurtles required way more precision on her part, and she paused before each one, having to use her arms to vault herself over. It hurt quite a bit, but she continued on, over the climbing wall and into the tunnel. The tunnel provided the speed she needed; she couldn't stand up, no, but she could get off her hands and knees and walk, bend over double.

She paused by the ropes and rings, hesitating. The fall wasn't that bad, but she wasn't sure how well this was going to go. She met his eyes, then walked over, jumping up, barely managing to grab the first ring. Her own weight took her by surprise and she gave a small gasp, feeling her hand slip slightly. She grabbed the other ring with her other hand and kept moving, strain showing in her form. He couldn't hold up her own weight very well. It took quite a bit longer than usual, and she had to pause after to catch her breath. A lot.

Danos
"Well done Avyra, I know the rings were hard when I first got here. Luckily sword practice and chores have strengthened my hands and wrists. When you feel your wind is back, lets continue," said Danos as he showed Avyra how to hold her arms above her head.

He had long ago found that this position helped your body recover faster, the breath slowing down from exertion must better.

After he had caught his breath, he continued through the rest of the course, it was again a series of obstacles to climb, jump and crawl under, over or through. As he stood at the finish line, he could feel his scars burning, knew he had worked the skin to the point of almost breaking and so again washed off with a ladle of cool crisp water.

Avyra nodded when he showed her how to hold her arms properly to get her breath back faster, and she was ready to go back after a few moments. Danos took the lead again, and she followed closely behind.

Climbing was easy for her, and she did most of the climbing walls relatively quickly. However, anything that he could jump swiftly over she had to crawl over; anything waist high to him was at her chest. She didn't have the strength in her legs to jump swiftly over that. Crawling, in contrast, was very easy for her. She had never felt cramped in the spaces, and she moved through the easily.

However, Avyra was exausted when the reached the end of the course, and she caught her breath again, everything aching. She knew everything was going to hurt tomorrow morning. "That was... painful..."

Danos
Danos held his hands over his head, letting his chest fill with air as he tried to quiet aching muscles and catch his breath.

"That.. was.. painful" said Avyra, and Danos could feel her struggle. He knew many of the other Drin'far'ji students struggled with completing the obstacle course and she was a Novice.

"Well let's call it here for a couple of days then Avyra. I know I will need a good soak before I can even think of facing some of my chores tomorrow. And I can imagine you need to be in at least good enough shape to pay attention to the Sisters. But good job today," said Danos as he thought of all they had managed to cover in this lesson.

Avyra merely chuckled, unable to get enough air to actually laugh. "Tell me about it. I've got essays to write, journals to do, and apologies to make. Sorry about that little adventure, by the way. I didn't think you'd get in trouble too. You were only trying to help." She sighed, rubbing her neck. "Yeah, we should take a few days. Hopefully I'll be able to move tomorrow."

They were able to plan another lesson, a few days later, during another free period. Avyra had been growing a bit stir-crazy; writing and punishments had been taking up, and eating into, a lot of her freetime. But complaining to Mirin Sedai meant death, and she didn't want to die. So she did her work without complaining. She just hoped Danos didn't have anything as bad as she did.

She found him by their usual sparring pit, and she decided to try something. His back was turned, and she was feeling foolish, so this seemed like a perfect idea. Avyra paused, considering her attack, then quickly darted in, light and almost silent, then sprang up onto his arm like she had done in their first lesson. "Ha! Gotcha!"

Danos
Danos was standing at the fence, enjoying a moment of free time as he stood in the sun.

Suddenly he heard the tiniest shuffle of feet upon the sands and before he could turn, Avyra was on his shoulders and back once more.

"Ha Gotcha," he could hear her say in triumph and rather than throwing himself forward like the previous time, he tried a few times until he managed to grab a handhold on her outfit.

Lifting her in the air, he pulled her forward and set her down on the sands gently, " You know if you put some claws on your hands, youd be a cougar doing that," he chuckled as he mimed her scratching and clawing.

"How are you feeling? I know it's been awhile since our last practice session. I wondered if you had thought on what else you would like to go over again," asked Danos.

Avyra gave a small squeak as he picked her up; he hadn't hurt her in the slightest, she just wasn't used to that feeling, and he put her gently down on the ground, remarking that she was like a cougar. "Well, I'd be one small cougar." She paused. "Also, you're really tall. Has anyone told you that? I could actually see things up there."

She actually didn't have any questions from their last lesson, but she had been thinking some things out. "We need to just have a spar. No stopping, unless one of us is actually hurt."

Danos
Danos laughed when Avyra told him she could see the countryside from atop his shoulders, and he found himself thinking of Rose.

A beautiful young woman his own age, many had assumed they would marry. He remembered spending many afternoons with her upon his shoulders, wrestling with other pairings in the river's currents by Jornhill. He knew she would have liked Avyra's spirit and fiery attitude. Light it feels like years since I've been home, thought Danos to himself.

Shaking his head to clear the memories, he focused on the task at hand. "A spar it is then, we can do that. And this time we will not stop until one of us taps out, or needs a Yellow Sister," said Danos. He could see Avyra's determination, and knew she needed to test herself. Looks like for her, I'm the towering tree in the sand, Danos thought as he assumed the guard stance and swayed in the sands, awakening his body to it's own balance and footing.

"But let's not shoot for the Yellow Sister, hm?" the smaller Novice replied.

Avyra took her stance too, starting to circle him, keeping her feet on her toes, deciding her next move. He followed her motions, keeping his back away from her. This would be harder; he already knew what she was starting to consider her "signature move."

He seemed to be waiting for her so she charged, taking the space in two long, almost dance-like leaps, closing the gap between them. He made a few lunges at her, one of which ended up hitting her in the arm. It was going to bruise, but she managed to stay up on her feet. She then stuck weirdly, tossing her entire shoulder into his chest, trying to grab for one of his arms. Maybe if she disabled one, he would have a lesser chance of harming her.

Danos
Danos took the impact to his chest easily, the shoulder blow knocking a little of his wind out of his chest.

He was glad to see Avyra grab his arm, and as she attempted to lock it out, he twisted his arm to loosen her grip, and lifted his arm up sharply to free himself.

As he did so, he used his left hand to push her and him apart, creating seperation. As she approached his best range, he kicked up with his right knee, and swung forward with his left elbow for her shoulder.
