Avyra nodded, limping along with him. It was a bit hard for her; he wasn't moving fast but his steps were so large he might as well be. But she didn't complain; she just endured everything. The kitchens didn't have a full staff yet, it was still too early for dinner, but where were a few cooks around. She told them their situation, and they all smiled and went to work, fixing up some ice and some food for the pair of them. "You can have most of mine," she said, holding the ice to her shoulder. It made everything feel better but was also making her hand numb. She then moved to her ankle. "I'm not really too hungry." She was sitting on the tall counter, with permission of the cooks, of course.

Danos
Danos sat beside Avyra and quickly cut up some of the fruit, chewing it softly while his friend got ice and sat down as well.
"Well hopefully as classes go that wasn't the worst for you," said Danos light heartedly. He knew little of the Power, but he figured he should change that as he was able. He knew the Novices and Soldiers around the Grey Tower often looked worn thin.
"Do they give you exercises like that for the Power? I've often wondered if it's like a muscle that you can increase your strength with," said Danos as he sliced and chewed his apple.

Avyra took some fruit as well, as usual not eating very fast. She was more concerned with moving the ice around her various injuries. "Actually," she said with a small smile. "It was, in terms of injuries. I think you deserve some sort of award for that." She paused, then gave him a lighthearted bump with her elbow. "Beating up on a tiny Novice barely a third of your size. How dare you." She paused, considering his next question. "Yes and no. Its my understanding that you can get stronger in the Power, to an extent. There becomes a point where you cannot strengthen your abilities without aid. We also are stronger in specific areas of the Power, in addition."

Danos
Danos laughed when Avyra teased about their relatives sizes, "I suppose we better wrap our hands next time. Don't need to earn two medals all at once."
When she was explaining about the One Power, Danos supposed it made perfect sense that there would be a limit. He had often heard the Novices muttering about burning out, and so he supposed there was a factor of fatigue to push past.
When she stated that some were stronger with other parts of the power than others, he was surprised. He knew many of the things he had overheard hinted at each Ajah bearing its own focus, and he wondered if that had to do with the different strengths.
Considering his friend, Danos asked, "Is that most of being a Novice then, finding the area you are strong in and practicing?"

She nodded. "A bit, I think. But being a Novice is mostly to master the basics. Once I become an Accepted I can hone my skills I want to." She paused, a small smile on her lips. "I've actually been taking some more advanced classes in private." She paused, taking another small bite of fruit. "Its not anything really special, honestly. Its mostly just those of a higher rank telling you what to do and assigning chores." She paused again, suddenly coming to a realization. "Oh dear. I need to be going; I have a class." She paused, carefully slipping off the counter as to not put weight on her hurt ankle. "I'm swamped for the next few days, and should probably get my strength back before we start again. I'll meet you at some point to discuss the next lesson."
(I think a timeskip is in order, maybe two or three days? To the next lesson/session if you want to continue)

It was three days later, and Avyra felt fine. Well, it was mostly because she had to see the Yellows for an unrelated injury. She had burned herself up good one night, and Gareth had fixed her other wounds as well. She found Danos where they had agreed to meet, in the same place as last time. She eyed the Drin for a moment, watching his stance and the forms he was practicing. She would beat him, at some point. Finally she walked over, giving a nod. "We should begin. I'm ready for my daily dose of being tossed about."

Danos
Danos was waiting for Avyra, and he was glad to see she was moving with no stiffness or pain that he could see.
"Well no throwing around today, I've been thinking about what we had talked about last time," said Danos as he thought of the three nights he had racked his brain trying to figure out what to teach next.
As Danos lined up, he motioned for Avyra to do the same, waiting until she had settled into the stance, "I was thinking of what to show you, when I remembered something from Jornhill. Often times in the fall, the bears would come down from higher country and raid the vineyards. The townspeople often used hunting hounds to fight them off. So let's practice that, think like a hound. Strike for my wrists, knees, anyplace that you think would slow me down," said Danos as he launched a series of slow punches. A simple jab and hook pattern.

Avyra nodded, a bit thankful for that. She hated being picked up, much less thrown about like she had during the last lesson. He explained to her his thoughts, saying that she should aim for vulnerable parts. She considered her options, then got into her stance, posture stiff. She was still absolutely terrified of getting hit by those powerful swings of his, but she sprang forward on her toes, avoiding his wrists entirely and kicking at his knees. Maybe that would slow him down.

Danos
Danos could read her hesitation written all over her form and movements. And so he ensured he pulled his punches as he was able, letting the rhythm of combat build up to match Avyra. He knew fights had a pulse, a rhythm to them that would build over time.
As Avyra darted in, he took her Kim and swung it out wide, pausing to allow Avyra to get her balance once more. "See what I did there Avyra? Rather than take the force of your blow, I simply used it and moved it to the side. Like a river and a berm, you cannot stop the river but you can use its flow to move it. On my next series of attacks, I will strike and I want you to try twisting and shifting my punches away. I block and take the force as part of making up for my lack of speed, we need you to be more like a river I think," said Danos as he got into his stance and struck.
Two quick jabs, each aimed for her shoulders were followed by a sweeping kick, as Danos hoped to dhow Avyra the power in simple redirection.
