Unexpected Reunion [Attn: Jaryd]

Hama Valon, the city around the Grey Tower.
Forum rules
Welcome to Hama Valon! The aptly named 'mountain guard' is the city that has grown up at the gates of the Grey Tower at the western edge of the Two Rivers. Like all cities, there are quiet quarters with pleasant inns, such as Elman's Creek, which used to be the nearest village when the Tower was young, but was absorbed as the new city grew; its Band of Brothers Inn is still a favorite relaxation spot for many of the Tower's denizens. And again, like all cities the world over, there are less pleasant places--narrow, nameless streets that house hells and other houses of ill repute. Most of the city falls somewhere in between, with hawkers crying their wares in the streets, respectable shopkeepers ready to serve you, and petty cutpurses happy to follow you.

Novices, Soldiers, and drin'far'ji must be accompanied by a chaperon when outside Tower walls or they risk being picked up as runaways and duly punished.

Tia Tomosan
You are safe with me. You are always safe with me. Jaryd’s words echoed in Tia’s mind as he held her in the crowded square. Snow fell, dusting them, and everyone with white fluffy flakes. A light breeze made the cold evening feel even colder for most, but the weather and crowds seemed forgotten by her and the Red. For the first time in a long time, perhaps since the Seanchan, Tia felt safe, as if being in his arms offered protection from the evils of the world.

The Green didn’t want to break the embrace, didn’t dare want to let go, or lose the sense of safety she had in that moment. Her green eyes met his dark gaze, and her breath seemed to catch. A moment later, his lips were on hers, and it was no less electric for the Aes Sedai as it was for the Asha’man.

The first kiss seemed to end as quickly as it began, and he spoke, “Tia I’m-” Whether it was him who kissed her, or she who kissed him, or perhaps it was a mutual decision left unspoken, but they kissed again, and Tia slid her hands up his back while pulling him closer.

Time lost all meaning for the Green as she met the Asha’man’s passion with her own. A small voice in the back of her mind suggested they find someplace more private. It was the same voice that convinced her kissing Zeen when he was an Asha’man and her an Accepted was improper, and thus had her run back to the Tower, leaving him without explanation.

There was no impropriety this time, thus she ignored the small voice, and let her own passions guide her. She had no intentions of breaking the kiss or the moment, but she had no control of the crowd as someone bumped into the pair, causing them to stumble. Tia found she was breathless, but she met Jaryd’s gaze with a shy smile, “Perhaps we should find someplace a bit more private?”

The Red grinned, kissed her forehead and took her by the hand to lead her to a quiet alley. She couldn’t sense him channeling, though before long, what looked like a gateway opened before them. The pair stepped from the alley to what seemed like a platform before stepping through another gateway into lush living quarters. The red decor suggested she was now in the Red’s living room.

Once the gateway closed, and the pair were alone, Tia turned to face Jaryd, giving him a shy, almost uncertain smile, “I . . .I don’t want to presume too much, but I should tell you I’ve never. . .”

The Green bit her lip and looked to his scarred hands as he linked his fingers through hers, “Uhm. . .hmm.” She looked up and cleared her throat, “I’ve never been with anyone.”

Jaryd
Creator… The prayer-like thought drifted through Jaryd’s mind, then dissipated unnoticed. His hands shifted, fingers splaying as he pressed Tia against him. Every place they touched tingled with fire that spread to suffuse his entire body with warmth. The Altaran’s breath came fast and unsteadily as his lips moved against Tia’s, and for a time that was altogether too short, he forgot all else but the feel and taste of the woman he kissed.

The marketplace had other ideas, the crowd buffeting them until their mouths parted by force. Spidery fingers rose to his lips, pressing gently against sensitive skin. The Green would go now, and he would- would- his chest ached, and Jaryd realized abruptly that he did not want her to go at all. “Perhaps we should find someplace a bit more private?” Dark eyes widened in shock as Tia’s words sank in. She wants…?

The Red’s grin spread like winter sun, lighting up his dark face with breathless excitement. His lips found her forehead -if he touched her mouth again they would not leave the city at all- and then he pulled them both away, eager for the safety and comfort of home. Skimming took moments so close to their destination; she led the way out, and he followed without question.

When she turned to face him there was color in her cheeks that the winter chill could not explain. His hands slid down her arms until their fingers could link- and then, as she spoke, he finally understood.

A silence just long enough to be noticeable passed while he looked at the young Saldaean woman. I should stop this right now, some rational part of his mind commented. I should escort her to her chambers, and I should help her find someone better. The Red realized he had lifted his hand, bringing her fingers to his lips. How did one define ‘better,’ anyway? Dreamily he kissed each pale fingertip. Did "better" mean someone untainted? Someone who would not understand the shadows that lurked in her mind? His lips moved along the side of Tia’s index finger and across her thumb to her inner wrist. It did not seem as if such a person would be better for Tia at all. The Altaran lavished kiss after kiss on delicate skin before finally breaking away with a soft sound of protest he could not quite stifle.

His other hand reached up to slide around her waist, pulling them close together, so close their breath mingled once more. “If you wish to I will take you back to your quarters,” he said, his voice rough. “No questions asked, no offense taken.” The Green did not pull away as he had expected; Jaryd swallowed hard, then carefully released her hand from his. A moment later he had tilted his head to press warm lips below her ear, just enough to be felt. He could feel her pulse pounding beneath her pink-flushed skin, and his arm tightened around her in response. “If, however, you wish to be….with somebody... “ His breath caught, and he found he couldn’t find the words he had meant to use. "I would very much like to be with you," he said finally, pulling away to meet her eyes.

Tia Tomosan
Each kiss on each fingertip sent a charge through all of Tia’s body. As his lips trailed to her inner wrist, her breath caught and she bit her lip before letting go a shuddery breath. She couldn’t help the soft moan that crossed her lips as he pulled her closer. Her own hands seemed to have a mind of their own as one slid up his back. The fingertips of her other hand traced along his cheek as his lips went to her neck. She closed her eyes and held on to him, as her legs felt unsteady beneath her.

A soft whimper escaped as he pulled away and his eyes met hers. The Green could lose herself in the depths of Jaryd’s dark gaze. The same part of her that had her run from the bench with Zeen was telling her she should have him escort her back to her quarters. The rest of her pushed the voice of rational thought off the nearest cliff.

The Aes Sedai wasn’t channeling, though it nearly felt as if she was, what with every little pleasurable jolt that traveled through her with each subtle caress Jaryd bestowed upon her. She felt heat on her cheeks as her heart pounded in her chest, her eyes locked on his. She didn’t answer. . .not right away.

The Green brought her other hand up to frame his face, her thumbs tracing his high cheekbones, her pale skin a stark contrast to his dark olive complexion. She bit her lip, looking tentative as she moved her lips to his ear, “I want to be with you.” Before she could second guess herself, she found his lips with hers, and the urgency she felt in that moment was so very real.

Tia let her fingers play through his dark curls, as they kissed though her hands once again seemed to move of their own accord. His touch was gentle, yet focused, as he guided her towards the bedroom. She was surprised to find herself so breathless, but didn’t care, and had no desire to stop. She realized he was unfastening the doublet she wore, and before long, it fell to the floor as his hands moved to her blouse.

Their hands seemed to dance of their own accord as the Green and Red worked around one another to unbutton the other’s top. He pulled back, letting her hands move along his sides to lift his shirt over his head. She held her breath as his eyes locked on hers and his hands slid under her own, though he didn’t remove it right away.

The urgency hadn’t dissipated, but neither Tia nor Jaryd wanted to rush this. He guided her towards the bed as his fingers lightly traced up and down her sides. A sense of longing had been building since the moment their lips first met in the town square. . .a longing Tia’d never before felt, but relished in every ounce of it. Her hands lightly ran along his bare chest, and then up his back, his own hands teasing her skin under her blouse. When he next broke the kiss his eyes met hers as he slowly slid his hands up, his intent clear as he started to push the fabric over her head.

Jaryd
Light, please… The thought floated through Jaryd’s head, but before he could even fully form it, Tia spoke. I want to be with you. And then her lips were on his and their bodies were pressed together, and the Altaran could no more keep from touching her, pulling her body closer to his, kissing her until they were both breathless and dizzy, than he could stop breathing. Eventually he broke away. Eventually he pulled them both to his bedroom. The warmth and dim light and heady layered scents of his private quarters enveloped them entirely, cocooning them from interruption and magnifying the passion that burned through them both.

They began to undo buttons with fingers made clumsy by trembling need between low murmurs and continued kisses. Brown hands tangled with pale ones, pulled free, their lips parting momentarily but their eyes meeting as Jaryd’s shirt fell to the ground. Green eyes. The lean man tensed in response, his heart hammering in his chest. A moment later the thought and the memories associated with it flowed away like water, leaving only warmth and light where he had feared to be consumed by a void of pain. Tia’s eyes remained locked on his. Green eyes. Warm. Trusting. Entirely hers, and seeing only him. This is real. Utter certainty blossomed, banishing the last vestiges of past loss from his mind.

Jaryd took a ragged breath, then another, his hands sliding beneath Tia’s shirt to pull her closer to him, his hands luxuriating in the feel of smooth skin against his palms. “You are beautiful, Tia,” he said softly, sincerely, a note of reverence in his voice. Then he lowered his head to press his lips along a perfectly shaped jaw, relishing the change in her breath as the gentle, teasing caress continued. He pulled away only to finish removing their clothing. Then they pressed skin to skin in a place that seemed for that evening to stand outside of time, lines of fire coursing between them that burned brighter with every new touch they shared.

--

The Red came out of sleep to find slender arms wrapped about his shoulders and his head pillowed on Tia’s bare chest, their bodies as intertwined in slumber as they had been while awake. Jaryd lay in silence for some time, listening to her heartbeat as his thoughts drifted from this to that in drowsy, contented, bliss. Something had happened the night before. Something different and real. How…? He drifted away.

When he opened his eyes again they had shifted so they rested with Tia’s back to his front. There was faint light shining from between the heavy drapes over his windows, and by the smell of it his manservant had brought them breakfast and tea not all that long ago. The Saldaean shifted, and Jaryd reluctantly loosened his grip. “Good morning,” he murmured, grateful for the sleepiness that clogged his voice and masked the uncertainty he felt. Would she be as content as he, or regret what they had done?

Tia Tomosan Sedai
Fire and lightning. The night had been nothing but fire and lightning, and she hadn’t wanted the evening to end. Sleep eventually claimed the Red and Green, and her dreams were as intense as their passion, though wholly pleasant. You are beautiful, Tia, the words echoed in her mind throughout the night and within her dreams.

The sky was awash in hues of red and orange, as if the clouds themselves were on fire. Tia stood on a cliff’s edge, looking out into a deep, wide canyon. The distant hiss suggested a raging river below, but looking down, she could not see it. Across the canyon and on the distant horizon, stood a towering thunderhead. It lit up as lightning played within. The thunder wouldn’t reach her ears for many minutes, if at all.

“A peculiar place. If one were not careful, one could slip and fall to the depths of the canyon, pet,” a husky voice sounded just behind her. A voice that once instilled fear in Tia Tomosan, but she did not even flinch when she heard it.

Shaking her head, Tia replied easily, “I have no intention of slipping. Not this time.” Finally, she turned to face Aluana, but instead of cowering or trying to step away, Tia held her ground.

“But I could push you in,” the Sul’dam smirked and folded her arms.

Tia simply shook her head, “You won’t.”

“You sound so sure. Why?”

“Because you are a part of my story, but you do not define who I am,” Tia replied, defiance clear in her tone. You are beautiful, Tia, a silky voice whispered in her ear. She squared her shoulders to the Sul’dam, “You have no power over me, and I have no time for you.”

“You will never be rid of me,” Aluana protested.

Tia locked her green gaze on the stony woman’s face. A moment later she lunged forward, and pushed with all her might. The Sul’dam looked shocked, but fell over the cliff’s edge before surprise gave way to fear. “I may never be completely rid of you, but you have no longer have power over me. I am Tia Tomosan Sedai, and I am my own woman.”

Red sky gave way to blue as a light breeze danced around the Aes Sedai. She gave a content sigh as she looked back across the canyon that looked much less ominous now the storm was gone.

For perhaps the first time in a long time, Tia Tomosan slept the night through without bolting up from a nightmare. Feeling the warmth of Jaryd’s body behind her, she pulled the covers around her, burrowing in and leaning back against him. Turning her head towards him, her eyes fluttered open and she smiled warmly, “Good morning.” She wasn’t sure what else to say, as ‘Thank you,’ seemed. . .inadequate at best, perhaps even insulting.

Memories of the night before came rushing back, and the Green couldn’t help the appreciative sigh as she took his arm and pulled it, and him closer. She turned so she could meet his dark gaze with hers, “I can’t remember the last time I slept so soundly.

Jaryd
Jaryd laughed softly, relief lending warmth to the sound as his arms tightened in response. “It has been quite a while for me, as well,” he said as their eyes met. “I do not…sleep...the way I am told normal people do. Even before -the invasion,” his voice faltered despite himself, but he forced himself to continue, “I couldn’t sleep more than one night out of three and even that, poorly.” The Red’s grip loosened and he stretched, his back popping in a satisfying manner before he settled back, his mouth finding hers as if drawn there.

Eventually breakfast called them away from their playful activity. The two ate the meal draped across the divan in Jaryd’s living area, giggling and teasing one another like children. The mood shifted once the food disappeared, Tia pulling him back to the bed without a trace of diffidence. The Altaran was only too happy to follow, his touch now fueled not by desperation or loneliness, but rather by warmth and playful curiosity.

They lay in a tangle of limbs and hair and bedclothes throughout the day, secret fears and hidden desires spilling out like jewels between luxurious caresses. His concern that Tia might see more in their joining than he had intended passed when she told him she wanted nothing more than a friend. “An educational friend, to be sure,” she added, looking up at him from beneath lowered lashes. That led to a kiss, which led to yet more exploration and laughter.

The sun had passed behind the mountain long since by the time the Green reluctantly took her leave. Jaryd closed the door gently behind her and turned to face quarters that no longer seemed so empty. He pressed his back and palms against the wooden panel, and let his head tilt back as he took a deep, unsteady breath.

It was time for them both to live.
