Ubriel felt like an interloper. She crept through the halls toward the Blue Ajah quarters clutching a scrap of a note she had written to herself. The number of shrugs and furrowed brows that she had received when inquiring about volunteering at the charitable house in the city was discouraging. She had one more attempt left in her and she was going to give it her best effort. It had been suggested to her that she should try asking Riven Trimak of the Blue Ajah. Now if only she could find him.
She was nervous for several reasons, not the least of which being his legacy in the tower. Before she ever dreamed of coming to the Grey Tower, he had been a leader and legend. At least that is what she heard. She knew little more than that. Another reason for her jitters was the fact that she had never once visited the ajah quarters for any reason. The stables and the warder yards; those were her domain. She didn't think she would be in any danger for being here exactly but she wasn't sure how well her presence would be tolerated.
Finally, she found the door she sought and knocked. It was pathetic. Taking a deep breath she knocked twice more, with more enthusiasm. She immediately wished she hadn't as the sound echoed through the stone hall. She waited.
