Ravak t'Sha'hal Darrow
Broken beams of the dawn's light struggled to be seen past the thick clouds to roiled over Hama Valon. Rain pattered against the glass front of the Grey Tower, making music for the young ears of the youngest Darrow. He raised both arms up above his head and made a pleased gargling sound.

"Funny noises, eh?" his father chuckled. Ravak reached into Iain's crib and lifted his son up into his arms. He walked towards a chair set up beside the window, giving the two of them a closer look at the landscape beyond. Rav drummed two fingers against the window, bringing about a half-yawn, half-sigh of contentment from Iain.

Looking downwards, Ravak could make out the Training Yards in the distance. He couldn't see clearly who was out practicing, but he started to name the different sword forms he saw. Iain occasioned a comment here and there, even though father and son didn't have a common language. Finally Rav added: "I'm glad I'm here with you and not out there with them. But then Daddy doesn't have anything better to do than sit here with you."

Sitting comfortably with the whole of Hama Valon as their view, the two Darrows slowly fell asleep.
- - - They were having a late lunch, thanks to the boys' lazy sleeping habits. Ravak watched Iain and Mia, besotted by the sight of his family. Since Iain had been born and Ravak had given up being Master of Arms, the three of them had barely spent a moment apart. For Ravak it was exhilirating but a tension was beginning to grow over the bond. Whenever Ravak asked his 'wonderful, beautiful wife' what the matter was, he would get some stock answer, occasionally with the suggestion that he 'went and did something'. There was, however, little Rav wanted to do then spend more time in his family's company. Plus, he did leave them from time to time, just to keep up with his sword skills.

Iain Darrow was, in truth, one of the easiest babies that Mia had ever had...as soon as he was out, that is.

There had only been a few sleepless nights early on before he began to sleep well. He would wake, nurse, and sleep again. He was a happy baby too, and fussed little. Frankly, Mia almost wondered if he was too good and something was wrong about all that...but Gareth told her that she was being silly and he was just fine.

Rynny had been colicky. And Tianna didn't like to sleep...almost ever. And she'd been one of a pair. Tarvin slept, right up until his sister wailed and woke him. Sadira had been fairly tame until teething started early. Haeden had been a fairly happy child, but still not as quiet and contented as this little boy.

Life was...almost idyllic, in some ways, for the new family.

However, just like what caused concern about the baby, the "too much good" was causing some slight strain for Mia and her marriage. Every woman loved to be loved and adored, but the headstrong, independent, dare-we-say-old Green struggled with there being just a bit too much of it from her devoted and wonderful husband.

She didn't love him any less for it, but she was beginning to want just a little bit of space. Of course, her "gentle suggestions" had yet to yield much of that.

A late lunch consisted of Mia nursing Iain first while Ravak watched on in adoration, before the adults would take their sustenance. Mia glanced down to check on the little one, who drank away happily with a great deal of...strength...and then she glanced up at the big one, finding him still watching. Love and frustration mingled as she smiled slightly.

Before she could say anything, there was a knock at the door. With her back to it, Ravak was free to answer it without anyone "seeing" anything...

OOC: Tone defiinitely struck well! I just wasn't sure how you wanted to roll into the next part, so I figured either Ravak or Mia could get a letter with the news. Whoever you think would make more sense to receive it. :)
