May I Present...Ravhala [Attn: Anyone Who Is Interested]

~ The Night Before ~
Miahala walked through the forest. It didn’t quite look like any place that she had remembered being for, and yet it was still somehow familiar. She did not know where she was, but she knew where she truly was. Her white shift trailed behind her as she walked, bare foot, and touched every tree as she passed until she reached the edge of a small lake. The water looked black, with the moonlight glinting off it. She knelt down and trailed her fingertips through the surface.

Mia’chalindra,” a voice behind her said.

She smiled and whispered.. “I knew you’d be here, tonight.”

Darien sat down beside her, and she lifted her head to look at him. When she did, she had to laugh and shake her head. He still wore that jacket without a shirt underneath, and that topknot she had always found so silly. She was grateful Ravak did not adopt that particular fashion.

“Where else would I be?” he said.

“I’m sure you didn’t think you’d be making this visit again,” she commented idly.

It was his turn to laugh. The sound was low and rough, yet almost melodic at the same time. “I am not in the least surprised, my love. You have too much in your heart to be contained by an existence of solitude. Too much life blossoms within you to be ignored.”

Twisting her body slightly, she leaned back on her hands. “One might have suspected that dying would have dampened that,” she said.

“I don’t imagine anything the Pattern could imagine would stop that,” he said with no small amount of amusement in his voice.

Miahala smiled and glanced at sidelong at him.

“I saw it the first time I ever saw you.” This was another voice, and he had been expected as well. “Blood speaks to blood, as they say.”

She looked over her shoulder and saw Ryne standing in the trees. He was almost as tall as one of them, the Malkieri having rivaled his Aiel compatriots during his time in the yards. She remembered when they danced, and he would lift her high into the air. Now she also remembered when Ravak had done the same with her and yet it had meant more in that latter time, because neither of them were young and so jubilance when the world has wearied you… Well, it’s joy better felt.

Her eyes shifted away from him for a moment, searching the trees and the lakeside for the one last face she expected to see. A part of her was unsurprised yet still hurt to not see that most distinct of faces within her surroundings.

“It means a lot to me that you’re here,” Mia said, looking over the lake again as it gently glistened and swayed. “It has been so long… My life has been so long. While Darien may not be surprised that I am here again, I certainly am.”

“Our lives shock ourselves most of all,” Darien said lightly.

She laughed softly. “I suppose that is true,” she agreed.

They were all silent for a while then and time passed. Everything just felt beautiful and serene, and she took it as a good omen for the day to follow. The presence of the past was comforting, and she appreciated them, even if a sliver of sadness lived in her contentment at the one who was missing. She had hoped he would be here, give her his blessing as well, but perhaps it was too much… Perhaps he was too deep into the pattern.

“Continue to live your life full, free, and true,” Darien whispered suddenly, kissing the top of her head. “Miahala Jolstraer.”

“May your blood and your soul continue to sing with those you love,” Ryne said from the trees, “Miahala Machera.”

She felt them fade from her Dream and it warmed her heart, though the sorrow grew with it.
But then, there he was.

“Mia.”

That rasping sound, just barely a voice. It was something that had scared some and simply grated on others, but he had always been beautiful to her.

She closed her eyes against the tears and smiled.

“I feared that you would not be here.”

“How could I not?”

Miahala pushed herself up to her feet and turned to see him walking out of the trees. His face still bore the scars, and on his back was the half-melted fancloak. He walked towards her as she walked toward him and they met, halfway between the trees and the water.

“What is it about you, woman, that finds the ones in the high towers and brings them down?” he asked. It sounded angry, but she knew from the light in that one green eye that he was speaking with fondness. She had always been the only one to be able to hear it, once Caden Ives had become the Reaper of the Yards. She had been the one to soothe the spectre.

“I don’t suppose I’m the one to answer that,” she said. It was not false modesty, but simply she knew it not her place.

“I suppose not,” he said, the unburned side of his mouth lifting in that half-smile. “I wish you luck, and I wish you joy, Miahala Ives.”

His visit had been the shortest, but she was no less grateful for it as he faded too.

Standing in the quiet, she turned and looked around.

She would be waking soon. She had a wedding to attend.
~ The Morning ~
If the night was for the dead, the morning was for the living.

Sadira had been here once before, and she seemed no less warm. Although she obviously could not be as old as her mother, she had been alive for a long time herself and was little fazed by the world. She enjoyed the joy that life could bring as much as Miahala did.

Haeden, on the other hand, seemed to be struggling a little more.

“I’m sorry, Mother,” he said, knowing that he was inheriting a little too much of the spectre as he stood in the room. He looked so much like his father, especially when he was disconcerted. “It’s just a little strange for me. Ravak is…”

“I know he is considerably younger,” Mia said with amusement as she pinned up another layer of hair. “However, when you are Aes Sedai like I am, the majority of the world is younger than you are. Age is only a state of mind by the time you reach my place in this existence.” She turned from the mirror and walked over to him, taking her chin in her hand as if he was not nearly forty himself and more than a hand taller than she. “We must find what happiness and love that we can and hold onto it. Everyone thought the same when I married your father and bore you, but you both brought much love and light and happiness into my life.”

His familiar green eyes stared into hers for a long moment before his stony expression softened and he nodded, almost chastised. “You’re right. I am happy for you, Mother, but it still is a little strange.”

Mia smiled. “So is life, dear child. So is life.”

"Shanna'har."

"Excuse you?"

Elia looked up at her brother with a patient smile. "You haven't heard of Shanna'har, have you? Goodness, you're marrying a Saldaean and you know nothing of their culture."

Ravak stared down at Elia. He tried to affect a lack of caring about his sister's remark, but his eyes were too intently fixed on her face. After a long pause, he sighed. "What is Shanna'har?"

"A summertime celebration that neither of you have succumbed to a Trolloc raid. Don't give me that look; it's true! I also thought it was poignant given who you are and whom you are marrying."

"Who I'm marrying..." Moving back towards the mirror, the Master of Arms grinned at his reflection. Looking at himself, the grin grew larger. "Peace, I can't wait." He rocked back and forth on his heels, grinning at himself the whole time.

From her position on her chaise longue, Elia tilted her head. All of the usual noise that filled her mind had quietened down. Instead of thinking about the workings of the Grey Tower, or her machinations with the Black Ajah, or any of the numerous other plots she schemed as part of Daes Dae'mar, her focus was on one thing: her brother. They - the Darrow twins - had fallen out of touch, but the wedding had brought them together again. Mainly due to Ravak sharing his living quarters with the woman he was marrying, and they both couldn't reside there on the night before their wedding.

"I'm happy that you are happy, Ravak. I like that look on your face. You should smile more often."

Turning away from his own visage, Rav continued to beam. "Thanks El. And I am. Happy that is. Light, I never thought..." He stopped himself short, then moved to kneel at his sister's side. The confused look on her face was quickly replaced by one of surprise. "And are you happy, El?"

"I'll be happier when I cease to look like a Tairen's grain barge," she muttered. "But I... I have Dax. He... he makes me happy." She smiled, although it was a poor mimicry of her brother's joy.

"Dax..." Rav muttered in wonderment. He shook his head before continuing. "And he makes you happy? Right, you already said so, sorry. I just um, I hope he treats you right."

Elia scanned her brother's face, trying to see what he wasn't willing to share. "He does. More than I thought any man could." Again the Aes Sedai's smile was a weaker attempt than the future bridegroom's. It was still a smile, however.

For a long while longer, Elia and Ravak just looked at each other. Each could read emotions in the other's face, even if one had grown ageless with time, whereas the other was half-concealed by a shaggy beard.

"You need to get dressed," Rav stated. For a wonder, Elia just nodded and offered her arm. Standing up, Ravak helped to pull his sister to her feet, then followed her as she slowly walked towards her bedroom.

At the entranceway, Elia turned back with a frown. "What are you doing?"

"I assumed you'd need help," Rav answered sheepishly.

"Do you really want to help your pregnant sister get dressed? No, I didn't think so. Just wait here and..." She leaned against him, resting both hands on his chest as she rose to her tiptoes. Lightly, Elia pressed her lips against her brother's nose. "This is your wedding day, brother. Enjoy it." She stepped back, resting her bad arm against the edge of the door. "Now go and memorise your vows, Ravak Darrow. I'll be back out in a bit." Elia pushed the door closed, her face telling of the pain her withered limb was putting her through.

As the handle clicked shut, Rav retired back to the circle of seats. Nervous energy bounced around inside of him. He jostled his leg up and down as he unfolded a sheet of paper and read it for the umptheenth time. I'm getting married today. I'm getting married to the most intelligent, beautiful woman in the world today. Light, send nothing goes wrong. In his head, Rav knew the most likely thing going wrong was him tripping up on his tongue. But his heart pounded, sending the sound of thumping blood in his ears.

Yet despite all that, he grinned manically. He was about to become Miahala's husband; she was about to become his wife. And there's also our child. Light, they were about to be a family.

~ The Ceremony ~ (OOC: For the ceremony, immediate family are in attendance with only the closest of friends; see next post for open-to-all reception. This also, obviously, takes place a couple/few weeks after the end of the MRP...)

The ceremony itself was due to be small, comprised of immediate family and close friends. It was setup in the gardens, because it was one of Miahala’s favorite places in the entire Tower and Ravak had agreed to it. If anyone else didn’t think it was appropriate... well, she didn’t actually care. It wasn’t their wedding, it was hers and Ravak's.

The pair had spent the night apart, because some silly traditions were held to. She was light on tradition, but kept some.

Now, however, it was the day of. She was not nervous, because little made her nervous anymore, but she was happy. Who would imagine that after so many decades and previous marriages, she would still be still overjoyed at the thought of being married? No, it wasn’t the marriage itself, just the blending of lives with someone she loved.

She could feel Ravak across the bond, and his feelings seemed to echo hers. Or did hers echo his? It was always unclear. He was already near the edge of the lake itself, standing beside their officiant, while everyone else took their seats in the simple benches that had been set out for those in attendance...

Anxious didn't even begin to describe how Ravak was feeling. Beads of perspiration dotted his forehead and face and his heart was under the impression he was running circuits of the Warder's Yard. He rubbed his palms against the side of his trousers for the umpteenth time. Despite the physical symptoms, his mind was focused on one thing: the future. Our future. The very thought sent his heart another jolt, making him all the more ready to be done with the day's formalities so he could get on with enjoying being with Miahala.

To save himself from looping the same thought over and over in his mind, Ravak twisted to look back towards some of the guests in attendance. He caught sight of his family first: Elia and Kaira and Zarayne. His daughters were talking quietly to one another whilst Elia looked on. None of them were looking his way for which he was grateful. If any of them needed support, he had none to give. He only had energy enough to keep himself from going insane at the wait. Mia was close, but he didn't dare to look in her direction. He would cling onto propriety for as long as he could muster.

Neither propriety nor Ravak had much longer to wait. With one more check over her dress, she smoothed it over her hips and prepared to walk out. She was just shy of being too pregnant to wear it, but she pulled it off with her usual grace. The off-the-shoulder gown was held up by a slightly increased bustline, gliding down her sides and then into a full skirt with full sleeves and a simple silver belt to accentuate.

It was not too simple but not too extravagant either, which seemed to summarize Miahala herself. Oh, and it was pale green, of course.

Without either escort or bouquet, for she was no young woman, she came around the corner of the tree line and then into view of all those gathered ahead. She smiled at her family for just a moment as she walked down the small aisle to join Ravak at the front, offering him that smile that she gave to him and no one else as she stood before him and offered her hands.

Breathing came easier now that Miahala was here with him. His face seemed to soften as he looked at her, unable to keep an elated grin from spreading across his face. She was beautiful. His gaze travelled down the length of her dress, noting how very 'her' it was. The velvet shone gorgeously in the mid-morning's light

When Ravak joined hands with Mia, he was glad to feel the slight tremble in her fingertips. Nerves were not an affliction only cast upon the young nor inexperienced it seemed. He gave her a knowing smile, appreciating how they were both on one mind when it came to today. They both wanted to be husband and wife almost as much as they wished for this moment to never come to an end. Whilst he was aware of the officiant and the guests and the gardens, there was nothing else in the world during this moment other than Miahala.

For that long moment, the world around them melted for her as well and she didn’t care to try to change that. She held his gaze with his own, and then smiled again, before finally tearing herself away to give a little nod to the officiant.

“Family and friends, we are gathered here, on this day, to witness and bless the union of this man, Ravak Darrow, and this woman, Miahala Sha’hal...” It had been a choice, perhaps slightly at Mia’s insistence, to omit any rank. It was not two ranked individuals wedding, but these two people, and she wanted that remembered.

With the greeting stated, the officiant read the ceremonial words, spoke of lives intertwined together forever within the Pattern, and of commitment and love.

Then he turned to Ravak and offered him the chance to speak words of his own writing to pledge his commitment to his bride.

"Miahala, you are already in my heart and in my soul. You are the first person I wish to see in the morning and the last person I desire to see at night. You give me the breath to rise every day. And although our lives are already interlinked and intertwined, I promise to support your freedom; to trust and honour you and your decisions.

"In return for your love, I will do my utmost to make everything into an adventure, for life is for living. I shall always be here for you whenever you need me. I shall never be distant nor disappear, but abide stalwartly by your side. You are my best friend, you are my love, and you are my heart.

"Before these witnesses, I pledge to love you more with every passing day, for as long as I am blessed to walk this earth with you."

Mia bit her lip around her smile as her eyes glistened with tears she just barely held back. Her love abounded and poured over the bond. She just barely restrained herself from forgoing the rest of the ceremony and just throwing herself into his arms right then… No, she still had her own vows to speak.

"Ravak... I have fought against many things in my life. My parents and siblings, to the Shadow, to my children, to the Hall of Sitters," she began, with a dryly humorous smile curving her full lips and putting a sparkle in her blue-green eyes. "And over the years, I have learned that the most important thing is to find something worth fighting for. This is why I have chosen many of the paths in life I've taken, because love brings beauty and purpose into my life. Love for lovers, for the children that brings, for family and friends. All of these things remind me of the importance of goodness, and of fighting for it. It makes the Light tangible to me, and gives me the drive, the passion, to keep on.

"This is what I've found in you. Even in a life so long and so hard as mine, it's a rare thing to find that in someone, but I found it in you. You remind me of what life is and what it means, and what I need to fight for. Not only that, but you give me an equal, a partner, to fight beside. For a life like mine, you cannot be blessed more than that. You are mine, and I am yours. As you bring love and happiness into my life, so I swear that I shall bring both into yours, for the rest of our days together."

The broad grin that Ravak had originally borne had transformed into an uneasy, wobbling smile. Maybe it was Miahala almost coming to tears that had formed tears in his own eyes, but one rolled down into his beard whilst she had been speaking. Pride swelled in his chest as he looked upon his beloved.

“If you would bring forth the rings?”

Although there hadn’t been anyone chosen to stand up with them, Haeden--even as weird as he felt about it--had offered to help. He stepped forward and held out the two rings, dropping the one for Ravak into his mother’s hand and the one for his mother into his soon to be st-- Into Ravak’s hand. He gave his mother a warm smile and Ravak a slightly less warm smile but a sincere one nonetheless.

“Please place them upon one another’s hands and repeat after me.” The officiant paused. “With this ring, I take you as my beloved, until the Wheel would stop turning.”

Rav held the narrow band of silver between his thumb and forefinger as he delicately slid it onto Miahala's left hand. "With this ring, I take you as my beloved, until the Wheel would stop turning."

Mia took a deep, pleased, breath and looked at the ring on her finger. Then she took the one in her hand and placed it on his. “With this ring, I take you as my beloved, until the Wheel would stop turning.” Whilst the phrasing was not theirs, the words meant the world to Ravak.

Mia stood with barely constrained impatience as the officiant lifted his hands. “In the Light, let it be proclaimed far and wide that this man and this woman are now married. May I present to you Ravak t’Sha’hal Darrow and Miahala ni Sha’hal t’Darrow.” He grinned at Ravak. “You may now kiss your wife.”

Ravak moved into the half-step gap between himself and Miahala, placing one hand on the small of her back as he leaned in towards her. His left hand, new ring included, rose up to lightly cradle her cheek as their lips met.

~ Grey Tower Ballroom ~ Although the ceremony itself had been a small, intimate affair, it had been determined--Miahala was not exactly sure by who--that there would be a reception afterward. It was put together for the grand ballroom, and Mia hoped there’d be no falling chandeliers with corpses spewing drunken gas from it this time. Anyone in the Tower who wished to attend was allowed, even the youngest of learning ranks were granted dispensation--but kept from the libations.

The guests from the ceremony were released to the ballroom ahead of the newlyweds, giving them a few moments to themselves in that little clearing in the gardens before they went to join their own party.

There was food and drink and music, beautiful dresses--with permission to not wear their uniforms for any learning rank who chose not to--and a general sense of gaiety. Unlike the last time this room had been used, there was none of the uncertainty and stuffiness. No putting on airs and no concern to appease dignitaries. For this day, it was just family. And the Tower was all family, and they were here with the intent to celebrate and nothing more.

(OOC: This is open to everyone. Drink, dance, be merry, all that jazz. Talk to Mia and Rav if you must, but warning, unmitigated sap. And anyone trying to interrupt that will be lit on fire as per orders from, and actually action by, the bride.)

Alrim scratched his chin through his beard and from his little corner of the room watched the happy couple as they entered into the Ballroom. Truth be told he had never met Miahala Sedia, despite having spent quite some time helping fulfil what was usually dubbed 'Green's Work', though he respected her without question, she was likely the most formidable and accomplished at the Grey Tower. He was there because he felt that he should be. Such moments were few and far between, he had to be there to see it and celebrate it. He had left a small present on the table reserved for tokens. An amusement really and just for fun - a shiny new pair of scissors tied up with a string of bells alongside a fine Andoran wine. Probably not required but it was tradition to give gifts. Besides, it had made him smile and that mattered as much. People were clapping and cheering as the happy couple entered, full of that glow comprised of pure fulfilment.

"Light send that you have long years, happiness and many sons and daughters" he raised his cup and drank the toast until it was empty.

He had made an effort to look presentable for once, his hair cleaned and trimmed back to shoulder length, the braids and bells all put into place and sparkling from the polish. He had even trimmed and shaped the beard so that it didn't stick out at all angles and actually had contour to it. Funny how it took the joy of others to get him to do it. He had told himself he would keep it up but he wasn't sure how long that would last. New boots and gloves tucked into a belt he had found in his old room at the Farshera home and clothing that felt richer than he deserved - all green, brown and earthy to match the Ajah and the participants. At least it was a good cut and according to his Ji friends showed off his assets. Red tinged his cheeks as he remembered their light mockery. He liked them, they were family, but he'd get them back in the Yards. He snorted to himself.

At least we have the moments of fun and joy, we all do he thought to himself as he pulled out his knife and began a search of the table nearby for a bit of food.

He had his sword and dagger too and truth be told he was nervous though he tried not to show it. The last time he had been in the Ballroom it had fallen into chaos and confusion. He prayed that it would not be so this time as well. So he was prepared should something happen, and armed to deal with it. At least this time he wouldn't punch an Asha'man...probably. As he cut himself a decent hunk of cheese and pocketed an apple he wondered if he'd have done that night differently given the opportunity. He surprised himself by admitting that he wouldn't have and picked up some buttered bread, reflecting for a moment before cramming it into his mouth.

"Wonder what counts for a honeymoon at the Grey Tower? Trolloc hunting perhaps?" he grinned and took another small cup of wine, mostly to show willing, he wasn't planning on getting drunk this time. Though he was not known for sticking to the rules, even the ones he made himself.

Returning to the corner and putting the cup down on a stone ledge next to him he began cutting the cheese into chunks and eating it from the knife. He was truly happy for them, he just knew that it was a silent sort of happiness. Let them have their day, he told himself. There will be time enough to congratulate them after. People will be talking about it for a while. For now he merely watched, waited to see if anyone he knew arrived and wished the happy couple well. From his little corner of the room.

It had been a long time since Natlya had worn a dress.

And it felt strange.

Still, on a whim, she had decided that she wanted to do something a little different. She could have worn her Gaidin dress uniform, true, and she had considered it, but thought this might be a nice change of pace. She looked down over herself and smoothed the deep blue fabric over her waist and hips, making sure that everything looked as it should.

She was just waiting on Terric, who was supposed to have been in their quarters by now. He would still have to get changed, but she imagined he wouldn't take as long as she had. So she looked in the small mirror again and made sure that her long red hair was neat, hanging over one shoulder.

Dog Gaidin suddenly hopped up from where he had been laying, keeping her company, and from the way his tail wagged, she knew that Terric was there.

Terric
Opening his door to be nearly bowled over by his giant dog while the love of his life watched with her radiant smile never failed to remind him of the true meaning of home. Holding his wax paper parcel out of Dog Gaidin’s eager reach, Terric kissed Natlya on the cheek. “I heard the most interesting rumors from a trader from Ghealdan,” he said, unwrapping the parcel to reveal a few fruit filled pastries and giving one to Natlya. “No, this isn’t yours,” he said as the big golden dog tried to nose his way in. Pulling a meat pie from the bottom and holding it out, “Sit, you.”

The big dog simply reached up snatching the pie out of Terric’s hand. He sighed. Why did he even try training the dog. At the sound of Natlya’s clearing throat, Terric remembered what day it was exactly. Ravak Darrow’s wedding reception was tonight.

“What’s a wetlander wedding like, actually?” Terric asked, voice muffled as he pulled his shirt over his head. As he listened to the answer, he continued tugging off bits of clothing. He didn’t have time to relax in a sweat tenth, but he could at least scrub down his face.

Alric attn:Andraste
Sometimes, Alric wondered if he was strange for enjoying the things he did. As he spent the afternoon preparing for the reception, he couldn’t help remembering his days in the army. Even during times of war, people found reasons to get dolled up and socialize. Often, the balls and galas were political matters, but as a respected junior officer he was often allowed to attend. To this day he carried fond memories of the hours leading up to such events, even more so than the events themselves. Alric and his fellow young officers would spend the day working together towards a singular purpose. From lending articles of clothing, to replacing buttons and checking each other for lint, the ordered chaos and sense of anticipation not unlike that before a battle. Except they were preparing for something much more cutthroat than any battle could hope to be. A Cairhienen ball.

This blend of nostalgia and anticipation carried him all the way to Andraste’s sitting room where he cooled his heels trying not to feel too impatient. His new fine wool uniform had been laundered and tailored to satisfy even the most nitpicky inspection. The metal bits from the scuffed pummel of the sword at his hip to the brand new dragon pin on his collar had been polished to a shine, then pushed over the edge with a little trickery with the Power. Today he’d even managed to outdo his usually fastidious hand shine on his boots. He wore braided green cord affixed to his shoulder and looping under his arm with a special sense of pride. All of this preparation and he still waited for Andra to be ready. He still couldn’t help wondering what was taking her so long as he reached through the door with his head turned to hand her yet another item. Truth be told, she couldn’t have expected an Asha’man taking over her sitting room for the afternoon. Even though he was growing a little impatient, it didn’t put a damper on his mood. Barring bandits or darkfriends or light knew who else he’d spend the night drinking and dancing with his friends and without the social constraints of being a learning rank.

Riahana Gaidin
Riahana had opted to wear her best dress uniform to the ceremony, being more comfortable in uniform than in a dress. Her husband was by her side as the pair, along with Tia, Einion and other immediate family watched the matriarch of their family wed Ravak Darrow, now Ravak t’Sha’hal Darrow. He’d taken on the Sha’hal name when he didn’t have to, and that went far in Riahana’s mind.

The wedding itself was beautiful, and so fitting for both her Great Grandmother, and Ravak, who Ria could not bring herself to address as step great grandfather. She was, though, very happy for the pair of them. The life of those at the Tower could be tumultuous, thus moments like these, connections like the one between Ravak and Miahala were to be celebrated.

With the wedding itself over, Gareth and Riahana, along with the others who were in attendance of the wedding made their way to the reception. One thing the Tower did well, it was throwing a party. Given the events that transpired not all that long ago, Ria was happy for the chance to unwind. She looked to Gareth, “Should we congratulate the happy couple?”

Tia Tomosan Sedai
Spoiler: show
Tia's wearing a dress!!
Tia Tomosan sat between her brother and her father, trying not to shift too often, or appear too uncomfortable in the dress she opted to wear. She thought of wearing the same gown she wore in Cairhien, but then decided something as special as her great great grandmother’s wedding required something just as special. She’d gone into Hama Valon and found a seamstress who had a couple of dresses that caught Tia’s eye.

The seamstress worked a miracle, in Tia’s mind, and created a dress that fit her perfectly. It was a rich green dress with black accents, a v-neck and a drop back. The dress itself wasn’t uncomfortable, but Tia felt out of place in dresses. She knew her Great Great Grandmother wouldn’t care if she turned up in riding breeches, boots and a blouse. She’d just be happy Tia was present. Tia wanted to do something a bit more. . .special given the occasion.

The wedding ceremony itself was the first Tia had ever attended, and it was a beautiful affair. She caught her brother looking at her as the pair made their way to the reception, “What?”

“Nothing. . .I’m just. . .I’m not used to seeing you dressed like that,” Einion said, grinning at his twin.

Tia laughed, “Dressed like what? A woman?”

“An Aes Sedai,” he countered, still grinning.

“Well, I am one, you know,” she replied.

Einion smirked, “I know, but I haven’t seen you in an dress since you and I were children. I certainly haven’t seen you in THAT kind of dress.”

Tia grinned and stood a little straighter, “I can dress fancy if the occasion calls for it, though I only own two dresses.”

“You own another one?!” Einion exclaimed.

She laughed softly, “Sometimes, I do have to look the part of an Aes Sedai, so yes, I have another one.” The pair (and their parents) reached the grand ballroom. Their parents headed off in one direction, and Tia looked to Einion, “Let’s go and tell Memma congratulations.”
