Adra's Enlistment Interview

Post by Julio » December 15th, 2015, 7:51 pm

It was an overcast day, looking like it would rain, as she walked through the city. She could see a large grey tower, disappearing up into the clouds.

Adra walked up to a door in the wall, where a few of the guards seemed to be arguing. She shivered slightly; she wasn't used to people with weapons arguing forcefully. Or people with weapons at all. The only weapon she had ever seen up close was the knife at her waist, with an emblem of a swallow flying. The emblem of a house that she only recently learned she was part of. A house that no longer existed. A house that had been slaughtered. By Andorans. But they hadn't succeeded. And they had tried to finish the job. They had failed, but Dalron was dead. She couldn't put her people in danger, and she couldn't let Dalron - or her family - go unavenged.

One of the guards stepped forward, introducing himself as Mordjen. As he led her wherever it was she was supposed to go, he talked. Telling of how he wasn't a warder because he had a wife, but would nevertheless like to learn to fight from the warders. He seemed to look up to this mistress Bryne, who seemed to be in charge around here.

They passed through a yard full of people with weapons, or with things shaped like weapons. They were fighting, or swinging their weapons through the air. There were three fighting in one of the corners, two against one. The two were losing rather sorely.

They turned off into a large building with a tiled floor. Mordjen pointed her up a flight of stairs, and took his leave of her, patting her on the shoulder. The room was imposing; she was not used to stone anywhere except outside. She was not used to houses of any type that didn't move, either. Nor was she used to combat of any type. There was a lot to learn.

She walked up the flight of stair, continuing down the hall. There was an open door near the end. That must be where she was supposed to go. She walked down the hall, very nervous. Everyone was so much taller than her! She knocked on the partially open door, then pushed it open.
