As she was standing near the wagon herself, Natlya was the one who jumped into the conversation when the Dedicated asked his question. It was, after all, what was on everyone's mind anyway. With her current kitten put away, she crossed her arms and shook her head slowly. "I have only seen the kittens," she said, "but... They look old enough to be weaned and starting off on their own.

"To have them all come out at once, though. That's the weird thing. There must be a colony of cats around here somewhere and perhaps it was blocked off from the Yards but something has unblocked it now?" Her hazel eyes began to rove around everything she could see from where she stood while trainees came and went to put in more kittens. "Maybe something in that storm we had recently."

The Grey Tower was not immune to weather. Even though it had plenty of cloud dancers, they also only wanted to affect the natural order so much or waste energy when sometimes, nature just had to happen. It was good for the earth. "Can anyone see anywhere that looks broken?"

Darthalien sighed and scooped up another pisicuţă, squatting instead of bending over so as not to to disturb the one that was nestling into his shoulder. He wasn't sure quite where this was all going, and he still worried that they were all about to die, but everybody seemed so calm that he was starting to think that maybe pisicuţă were just different in this world. Then the one on his shoulder started purring, and he unexpectedly found himself hoping that was true for other reasons.

Dedicated Kalyan
Kalyan looked around as the redhaired Gaidin spoke. Her idea made sense, but nothing was broken that he could see from his place standing near the wagon. There were a few fallen tree limbs scattered around, but none were nearly large enough to serve as a potential hiding place for cats. He wandered away from the wagon, searching now for storm damage instead of stray kittens. The Dedicated walked until he reached the perimeter of the Training Yards, one of the few places he didn't think he'd seen hundreds of times just today. He followed it, moving straight ahead, brown eyes looking for anything broken, out of place, or if he were very lucky, just for grown cats.

He felt as if he were continuing on for a very long time, stepping carefully over the occasional puddle of water or hole in the ground. As far as Kalyan knew, nobody came out this far often, which he hoped would make it a good place for a group of cats to call home. He approached the boundary of the Yards, where he would need to either turn or go back the way he'd came, and it was there that Kalyan noticed a small, abandoned shed.

While it didn't appear to be in use for anything, the shed appeared to be in good shape, with roof and walls still intact. The only problem Kalyan could see with it was the thick fallen tree branch that held the door shut. The Dedicated blinked and studied the area around it. There were no cats to be seen, but here and there he could see evidence of them: a collection of tiny bones that might once have belonged to a rat, holes in the grass where animals had clearly been digging, and tufts of grey, white and red fur clinging to the grass.

Kalyan seized hold of saidin and used thick ropes of Air to take hold of the tree branch and pull it slowly away from the door. Once it was far enough away, he let go of the Power and reached for the door. Opening it slowly, he poked his head inside. He couldn't see anything, but he heard something stir in the grass. Looking up revealed a large grey adult cat carrying a rat in its mouth. It brushed past Kalyan to walk into the shed as if the door had always been open. For a moment, the Dedicated stood there staring at it while it slunk inside, then he hurried back to the wagon.

He said to the Gaidin, "There's a shed out there, near the edges of the Training Yards. Think that might be where the cats are coming from. It had a branch blocking the door, and once I moved it, I saw at least one grown cat going in. Don't know if there were any more."

Natlya had also been looking, although she had moved in a different direction. She had not found much going her way, so she turned and followed the path of the Dedicated to the shed. She knew every corner of the yards after all her time here so she knew of the shed, but what she also knew was that it had stopped being used after some new storage accommodations had been built.

No one had thought much of it, since it wasn't in the way or causing any issues...until, perhaps, now.

She approached and looked at the shed. Nat could hear others behind her, curious in the same way, though she didn't turn to them. "You may be right," she commented to Kalyan. She stepped past him and through the door, looking inside but there was little light. "Can someone channel some light?" she asked after a moment, when she recalled there were channelers in the bunch.

Dedicated Kalyan
Once the Gaidin had entered the shed, Kalyan opened the door and poked his head in to look inside. It was dark inside the windowless structure, and other than the vague outline of the Gaidin, all he could see were what appeared to be some odd glimmering dots that almost shone in the blackness of their surroundings. Kalyan wasn't scared, but he did find the sight to be just a little creepy, and backed out of the doorway without really hearing the Gaidin's request.

If he'd been the only channeler present, that might have been a problem, but he wasn't. Quite a crowd had gathered behind him, and more than a few walked past him with hastily woven lights hovering above their hands or in the air. The Dedicated followed these in, curious to see if he could identify the strange spots he'd noticed, and once he was inside, Kalyan realized what he'd seen.

Much like the Yards had been earlier, the shed was filled with cats! Long haired and short haired, big and small, thin and fat.....they came in every color Kalyan had ever seen on a cat. Lounging on floors and old rickety shelving, the cats eyed the intruders. As he stared at them all, Kalyan noticed that there wasn't a kitten to be seen except a very few even he could see weren't old enough to be far from their mothers. He moved over to where the Gaidin stood and asked her, "Should I go get the wagon?"

How in the Light...

Natlya, after spending her childhood as a thief and her adulthood as trainee and Gaidin, was rarely surprised or shocked by things, but this one managed to do it. She kind of just...stood for a moment and stared at all the cats she'd had no idea were living out their little lives right here in this unused structure.

Now with the light, she could see that there was a hole in the far wall that looked new. There were other holes that were not new. The cats had to have been coming in and out, but perhaps the new "entry" let the kittens out...

"I think you're going to need more than one," Nat declared. "We need to find all of these guys a new home."
OOC: Do we want to continue this or let it wrap here? I can go either way.

These were the full-grown Pis-- 'cats'? Darthalien shook his head slowly. They had to to be; he could see the differences in the shape of the body, and at least one of them was still carrying its prey in its mouth. They were just... so small. So apparently he really hadn't been in danger, and he'd wasted some perfectly good panic that he could have used elsewhere.

Well, little one, time to join your friends. He reached for the kitten on his shoulder, only to feel it hook every single one of its claws into his shirt. Apparently it wasn't coming off, not without taking the shirt with it -- and probably some skin as well. Are you staying with me, then? He sighed. Well... maybe you'll grow up big and fierce and be a scourge to my enemies, then. At least the tiny ones. He wondered if there was a rule against having a kitten in the student rooms; the Grey Tower seemed to have a lot of rules. Ah, well. If they tell me I can't keep it I can always pretend not to understand...

Dedicated Kalyan
Another look into the shed convinced Kalyan that the Gaidin was most definitely correct. They'd need at least one more wagon, maybe two, and he had no idea where to look for those here in the Warder Yards. As the group split up, some attempting to corral the cats within the building, some to aid in the search for something to put them in, and some just leaving, the Dedicated had an idea. He didn't know the Warder Yards well, but he'd often seen gardeners using wagons in the Tower Gardens, a place that was far more familiar to him. Leaving the shed behind, Kalyan walked to the gardens and began to look around for gardeners. They weren't hard to find, but it took the Dedicated some time to locate one with a nearly empty cart sitting at his side. After getting the man's permission, Kalyan set the plants inside it carefully on the ground and pushed the cart back to the shed the adult cats called home.

When he was nearly there, he heard the complaints of the kittens before he could even see them. On arrival, Kalyan found a pair of Accepted waiting, one with the kittens and the other with the same sort of wagon as he had, likely also borrowed from a gardener. With them and several others, he went into the shed to collect the grown animals. The unhappy creatures yowled, clawed, hissed, and bit, but being contained in their hiding place made them at least much easier to catch than the kittens. Still, he was glad when they were all settled in and ready to be relocated.

The small group of them left the Tower, hunting for a suitable place for such a large number of animals. Certainly there was no place in Hama Valon that would do, and they eventually reached some empty land on the edge of the city. Kalyan looked around, trying to see if any of their immediate surroundings might make an acceptable home for cats. He wasn't entirely sure what he needed, but when he noticed a small stream running, the Dedicated pointed at it and said, "How about over there?"

Nobody objected, and they all helped to unload the cats at the place Kalyan had chosen. Other than the stream, it contained plenty of grass and several tall trees that appeared to be a good source of shade. As he set down a little black, white and red kitten on the grass, Kalyan saw it crouch down, flicking its tail back and forth, then bounce off to attack something he couldn't see. He smiled at the sight, realizing that all the cats would be just fine in their new home.
