Hitting the Books in Another World [ATTN: Liri]

Post by Leala » December 11th, 2015, 3:24 am

Leala closed her book, capped her ink well, and put up her pen. She made sure everything was neat and where it needed to be before she went to sleep. She changed out of her dress and washed up a bit. She made sure everything was put away and ready for tomorrow. It was getting close to midnight, and as she nestled into her bed, she worried an innumerable amount of times if she would be able to enter Tel'aran'rhiod tonight. How had she done it last time? She had been worried about her plans for the next day, but she was also exhausted. She drifted off thinking of strange things and ended up in the place she had begun before she entered the Grey Tower. How could she approach it tonight?

Taking a deep breath, she decided to examine her thoughts tonight as she drifted off. No, that wouldn't work. She would never get to sleep. She began to feel the pressure of stress niggle at her mind as she pulled the blankets over her form. She shook her head at herself and tried to calm herself and get her mind ready.

It took five tries to fall asleep before she finally found herself in her room, but in an elaborate Cairhienin ball gown.

She took her strange set of circumstances to mean that she had entered Tel'aran'rhiod. She looked down at the grotesquely decorated gown. It was red, then it was blue, then it was yellow, then she decided that it was really the light reflecting to make it look like that, like some twisted version of a Warder's cloak. She concentrated and watched as it changed to her appropriate dress of an Accepted. She glanced at her hand and willed her Great Serpent ring to come into being as well.

Leala decided to slowly and methodically make her way to the library again. She tried to keep her mind on her surroundings and not let them wander, not let them slip away from the Grey Tower. She had the entire world to see, but it could wait. She watched as people, some she knew, flicked in and out of existence. Liri had mentioned that as people sometimes entering without realizing it for just a moment, without any talent for it. She saw one of them, a Dedicated, pick up a book, and then look down in confusion when it went back to its place on a table. He disappeared, but the book stayed stubbornly in its spot.

She made her way into the library, hoping she wasn't keeping her tutor too long. She didn't want to think about how long it had taken her to finally end up here. As she walked toward the table where she had discussed their meeting, she saw the other golden-haired Accepted waiting on her patiently. Her hands went to her head, and she realized that her hair was still up in the Cairhienin fashion. She concentrated until it looked like her long, curly tresses that were not put up once more, and then sat down at the table, hoping that her embarrassment was concealed by her practiced features. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."

After a long day with classes and studies it did not talk Liri long to get back to her room and curl up on her bed. She was defiantly ready to get some sleep but tonight she knew say may have a lack of sleep, tonight she was going to help Leala in the World of Dreams. It could be a very scary place at times and Liri was lucky enough to have been able to figure it out mostly on her own, but she was lectured on the dangers so she was always willing to give a few pointers to anyone else.

Liri snuggled under her blankets for a moment more, relishing in the warmth they provided, before closing her eyes and entering Tel'aran'rhiod. She woke up in her room as usual with her Accepteds dress. Without even thinking Liri changed her dress to a dark blue with slashes of bright red in her skirts, she had her hair up with ringlets framing her face. Nodding at her reflection in her mirror Liri headed out of her room towards the Library. Lir took her time walking there watching with interest as things appeared and disappeared. Maybe one day she would tire watching things move but for now she still watched it with interest. It seemed very few things were ever in the same spot twice which made Liri wonder.

Before too long Liri arrived in the Library and took a seat waiting for Leala to show up. She didn't expect the Accepted any time real soon, she seemed to be at the beginning of her learning process and sometimes it took a few tries before one was able to enter Tel'aran'rhiod. But Liri was entertained, the Library was the one area that never stayed the same, books constantly moving and not always being put back in the right spot. Annoying for the Librarians, but it made for an entertaining view in Tel'aran'rhiod.

Before too long, Liri heard a voice from behind her "I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long.". Liri turned around and smiled at Leala. "No not at all. I think I arrived early anyway.". She got up from her seat took a step closer to Leala. She was already impressed that Leala had been able to hold her appearance steady, a small feat but it was good that she had managed to learn a few things on her own.

"Where would you like to start?"

Leala thought on the question where would you like to start? She hadn't given it much thought before. From what she had read, there were so many things that she could explore, and so many things that she needed to master. There were many advantages to this place, but also many pitfalls. Keeping her appearance where she needed was easy enough, for her, anyway. She had always kept her mind disciplined. This talent would definitely be a test of that. She would likely improve on moving around the more she became familiar with Tel'aran'rhiod. "I wonder," she said, vaguely, as she sifted through her thoughts, "since there is a way to change your location here without the use of gateways, can you go to places where you have never been? Or concentrate on a person or a thing that you would like to visit? Or can you only do that if you know what the place looks like?"

She decided that using this world as a tactical advantage would likely be what she would use it for in the future, after she gained the shawl. It had many uses in that. Hopefully, she would be able to get a much better understanding of it before she was raised. If her theory on moving around was correct, she really could see the world in her dreams. The thought was both sobering and fascinating at the same time. Training to use it would likely humble her in many ways.
